LH and FSH

Hi everyone
I had blood tests done the other day for various things including LH and FSH after 16 months unsuccessfully trying to conceive. The tests were done on day 22 of my cycle (which is normally 27-34 days long. From what I have read they are normally done on days 1-3. Does this mean the results are invalid do you know?

Many thanks

Hi happy

Yes they would be. The exact same thing happened to me. My doctor sent me for blood tests on day 21 on my cycle in may. I asked her about fsh and lh and she said it can be done at any day in your cycle which I was surprised about.

Anyway, in July I had my first fertility appt at the hospital and the consultant basically said as my fsh/lh weren't tested on day 2/3 then they were invalid and needed to be repeated. Very frustrating.

Thanks yorkie. It is frustrating. And also emotionally testing as I thought it meant my results were ok, but I now I guess they may not be. I haven't got another appointment until the end of August now so I think I will have to phone up and ask for another test. Feel so down about it at the moment. Did it delay other treatment for you if you don't mind me asking?

It is v frustrating. Unfortunately my repeat test results show that I have high fsh suggesting low ovarian reserve. This doesn't mean this will happen for you and your results could quite easily come back fine.

It hasn't really delayed anything though as I was sent for a hsg after my first fc appt so had the repeat tests done around the same time. I've got to have a repeat fsh test done in about a months time.
