Lap and dye- questions and advice needed

Morning all

I had a lap and dye a few days ago, as my HSG had been inconclusive and they also wanted to rule a few other things out. It was all clear, thankfully. I was on day 29 of my cycle when they did it, and while there's been a bit of bleeding, there's been no sign of my period. I know I'm not pregnant, they tested before the op, but will my period arrive, or will it now wait until my next cycle?

Sorry, these are things I should have asked the consultant, but was a bit out of it when they discharged me

I had my lap & dye very early on my cycle (day 5? ish) and then didn't get another period for about 2 months. When it eventually did come it was incredibly light - maybe two tampons' worth. Are you 100% sure the bleeding you've had wasn't a period?

Other than that the op shouldn't have disturbed your endometrium so in theory you should still have a period. Are you waiting on it to start a new drug cycle?

Thanks - it may have been - it's difficult to tell what was down to the op and what was my period. I did wonder, given that it was due any day, whether it might have been 'washed out' with the dye (sorry, far TMI)

Waiting to see the consultant before we start drugs, so it's more that I'd like to know for my own control freakish tendencies peace of mind. Guess we'll just have to see how it goes. Not that I feel up to much by the way of romance at the moment, so cycle status may be a little irrelevant for a few days any way!

You should have received a follow up appt a week post op to discuss the findings of the lap op. To not receive one of these is poor practice as is discharging you when you still felt a bit out of it.

I would contact them about the bleeding particularly if it continues. I've had this type of surgery and did not bleed post op.

The bleeding stopped, and AF duly arrived, so 'back to normal'.

Am a bit worried though. The consultant told me he would see me in 8 weeks to discuss next steps. I recieved an appointment for July, which has now been changed to September. Am I being a big grump to call them and complain and see if I can be seen earlier?

I really don't want to wait another 5 months to even find out what the next steps might be.

I would see if you can be seen earlier, waiting till September is too long to be seen for a follow up. Sometimes appts crop up as a result of cancellations; I'd be calling them weekly and see if there is a cancellation apt you can have.

Thanks Attila - that's what I thought, but wanted to check, as am not feeling at my most rational about this whole issue, and didn't want to be a pain.
