Does anyone know anything about a short luteal phase on clomid?

Hello,

I've been on clomid for a few months now and it seems to be making me ovulate, though very borderline (day 19 prog of around 28-29). At the same time, my cycles are only lasting 21-22 days.

The clinic says that because of my progesterone score we should keep going at the same dose, but my fear is that either I'm not ovulating at all or, if I am, there's no way that a fertilised egg could implant in such a short time.

Just wondering whether anyone has any experience of anything similar?!

Hi. Not the same as Clomid worked for me but I had a very short luteal phase of between 7 and 9 days. Don't know if Clomid lengthened it as I got pregnant first cycle with a day 21 score of only 22. Maybe you need to up your dose?

How long have you been on clomid for and at what dosage?. Are you being monitored by them regularly?. Its usually given for a maximum of six months after which time other treatments are tried.

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

Clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder.

doobeedee, congratulations on your pregnancy - reassuring/amazing that you got pregnant with a prog score of 22.

Attila, my underlying problem is PCOS. I'm now on my fifth cycle of clomid and I've had a lap and dye which showed everything besides ovaries to be in good condition. They also did OD while in there. I wasn't responsive for the first couple of cycles; the nurses have told me that since I am now responding we will go for six months (so three more I suppose).

I've had my dosage upped from 50mg to 100mg and they don't want to go any higher as they believe it's doing what it's meant to. I'm being scanned and blood tested every month, and the recent scans have shown mature follicles and a good lining.

Perhaps it is time to ask about the next steps!

Am glad to read that you are being monitored whilst on clomid; this is good practice and particularly so if PCOS is present. Clomid can increase LH levels markedly.
