Egg Donation, private?

Hi, I'm looking to donate my eggs, I'm a healthy mum who has has 4 healthy pregnancies and 4 healthy children at the end of it.

I've always wanted to donate my eggs, I was actually prepared to be a surrogate for a family member till they decided to adopt.

I've weighed up the pros and cons and do want to do it, I first looked into it 6 years ago but I've been waiting till my youngest was a bit older. I'm 28 btw.

The thing is we are struggling alot at the moment as DH lost his job, am I able to donate privately for a fee? The local hospital said their scheme pays donors £1000.

Is that a standard amount or is it more privately?

The HFEA set a limit of how much egg donors can be paid and it is supposed to cover expenses, so really private units shouldn't pay you more. There is a fixed sum of £750 set by HFEA.
It doesn't stop you enquiring! but you are not going to make your fortune by selling your eggs in the UK, sorry.

Its illegal to pay donors for their eggs in the UK, so I am not sure what your local hospital is up to! But as it says above, you can claim expenses that are capped at £750 by the HFEA. I would speak to Alison at www.altrui.co.uk for more information, she is really lovely!! Altrui is a company set up to match donors with recipients and she will talk you through all of the ins and outs.
