Lap/Dye & Ovarian Drilling....

Hi, hope you're all well.
I wondered if anyone could offer any personal experiences of lap and dye & ovarian drilling? My surgery is Friday and amongst the excitement there's definitely more nerves!
We've been TTC for just over 2 years, no success with clomid or metformin. Can't remember the last time AF arrived on her own with the help of progesterone, let alone ovulation. Did anyone's periods/cycles re-start naturally after surgery? Or indeed get that long awaited BFP?!
Any words of wisdom are much appreciated, thank you xx

The type of laparoscopic surgery I had was called laparoscopic ovarian diathermy and I did get a BFP a couple of months later. This surgery was performed due to PCOS (there is no one therapy or treatment that will completely eradicate this condition as the cystic follicles associated with it do return).

I did not have the "dye" part of this op performed as this had already been done via a HSG (tubal x-ray).

I trust you have already asked the gynae lots of questions already; this type of surgery has a steep learning curve. I was a day case and went home later that same evening.

The worst part of the op for me was the pain in the shoulders post op ; it was very painful but painkillers and rest took the edge off it. The pain is caused by the CO2 gas used in the op to give the surgeon a better view of the organs; this gas travels upwards.

You should be given a follow up appt around a week or so post op to discuss the findings. Ensure you have such an appt. Do not accept or let them talk to you about the findings of said op when you are out of surgery and in the recovery room!. It is bad practice to do that so do not let that happen to you.

I was in full time employment at the time and was advised to take 2 days off work post op.
