IVF - does anyone have any experience of Guys?

Hi, we're just at the point of being referred for IVF after TTC dc2 for 2 years and only managing one ectopic in that time. The gynae I've been seeing for tests has now diagnosed us as "unexplained", with slight complications of only one Fallopian tube after the ectopic and slightly low morphology results for DH sperm.

We need to choose a clinic (will be going private as no NHS funding) but are struggling to choose and feeling a bit overwhelmed. The doctor mentioned Guys as being very good, does anyone have any experience there please?

we went to guys and found it very good. the admin side was a bit chaotic but care from doctors nurses qaa excellent.

My husband and I had PGD IVF at guys. Haven't got any thing to compare them to, however, they were fantastic. Cannot fault them. During a consult I mentioned a problem I had when I was younger with the combined pill. They were straight on the ball, organised blood tests and a consultant appointment with a haematologist. We are hoping to be going private with them later this year

Hi. I have no experience of guys but I would really recommend researching success rates of clinics. It can make a 20 or sometimes 30 percentage point difference in success rates. That's 20 more couples in the hundred who walked in the clinic who get to leave with a baby.

Don't go to one of the average clinics if you're paying yourself, please!

The hfea website used to have the data (I really hope they still do despite coalition threats to the hfea). The two obvious choices for you if you're in london are the ARGC and the Lister. Both fantastic success rates and they take pretty much all comers. (Unlike some clinics with great success rates but who weed out poor responders.)

My daughter is a Guys ICSI baby and i couldn't fault them. Everyone pleasant and they get good results.

My first cycle was at The Lister very expensive and wasn't impressed with them at all.

SEFC in Tunbridge Wells are supposed to be excellent?

I hope Guys is ok for you, I've had only good experience from a few hospitals. As someone else mentioned, take a look at their success rate and you'll start to get a feel for the quality of work they do.

I wasn't impressed with Hammersmith at all (my only UK experience)... Have you thought about going overseas?

Thank you everyone. We've been studying the success rates but the controversy about ARGC worried me a bit.

It just feels like such a lot to consider without much in the way of support, the gynae basically washed his hands of us and told us to pick somewhere, self refer and get a move on because I'm 35

What about the Lister? I really loved it. And it has great success rates considering it's even less picky about who it treats than the ARGC, who I think require certain fsh results before letting you cycle.

What worries you about ARGC? They are massively successful but it does require a great deal of time and you putting your trust in their methods pretty much entirely. It wasn't for me, but friends have had success there, and you will probably feel like you've thrown everything at it, which is often a reassuring thought in ivf treatment.
