Number of follicles for IVF?

Just quick question so I can try to support my sis - she is currently about a week in to her 1st attempt at IVF. She is on the max dose for stimulation drugs as I understand it (she is 40 with a low AMH) but she's been for a scan today and there are only 2 follicles and she's worried that she won't even get to egg collection stage.

Drs have said this is a fairly typical response, not to lose heart, things can change. Want to be positive and upbeat for her - can anyone assure me / us that its still viable?

I am similar. 38 with low AMH and low follicle count. First scan showed nothing at all growing after 5 days and was told to cancel. I refused, kept going and today went in for EC. Had 3 follies and got 3 eggs. Personally I'm delighted with 3 as I worried I'd get none .

Won't know about fertilisation until tomorrow but at least the eggs came out! I wish her good luck.

How is your sister getting on? Things can change quite quickly, I had a lot more follicles by collection time than I did at the first scan. Also it's quality that really counts. Fingers crossed here

Devil is right. My 3 eggs have amazingly all fertilised. Tell her to drink water and eat protein. The rest is mostly luck I think.

She had another scan today and there are still 2 decent sized follicles that are growing and one smaller (new) one, so she's (slightly more) hopeful that she'll have get to egg collection next week.
