Slow growing follies?
CookieRookie · 06/10/2012 11:20
Hi there, hoping for some positive stories and some reassurance.
This is our first and only cycle of IVF. I'm on CD 8 today. Baseline scan showed very poor antral count, possible 2 on the right and 1 on the left. AMH was also very low at 2.1. Consultant said it was still worth a try and so I'm currently on Microflare Protocol.
Three days ago I had a scan which showed a cyst on the right, nothing to worry about apparently as long as my bloods were ok which they were. They marked, as expected, 2 on R and 1 on L. Yesterday they said there were 3 on the R (plus shrinking cyst) and 3 on L but their growth was slower than they hoped. They decided not to increase the Gonal-F nd hope that by Monday they'll have increase a lot more. I think I have a 10mm, 9mm, some 5mms and one smaller.
They said not to worry because they can push the ER forward until they get to the right size but I'm worried about the slow growth. Does slow growing mean poorer quality?
I don't want to cancel but as we only have money for one try I don't know what to do. They tell me time is of the essence because I've such a low count and I could end up with no eggs in a matter of months.

Sorry Cookie, I can't really answer your question but didn't want to leave this totally unanswered (and hopefully by bumping someone more knowledgeable will come along).
I think your final paragraph is your answer though - it sounds a bit like you have to give this one a shot. If the clinic has told you not to worry, then I would stay away from any google searches about slopw growing follies and simply go with what they say. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Summer
I had another scan today and things are looking more positive. Have 7 in total now and they're growing fine. All going well I'm for EC on Friday.
Cheers.
