Left over IVF drugs

I am nearing the end of my final (10th!!) round of IVF and am likely to have at least one bottle of buserelin, a week at least of heparin injections, some progesterone injections plus maybe some oestrogen patches. I also have an extraordinary number of empty sharps boxes (think they have rather ironically been breeding in our bedroom cupboard).

Knowing how much money we have thrown at our infertility over the years, I would love these to go to a good home. They will all be well within use by date.

Does anybody out there want them, free of charge of course? I know it's difficult because I could be a nutter who has done something dodgy to the drugs, but if anybody wants to take a chance on us...!

I'll know exactly what's left in a few weeks time...

That's very thoughtfull but I don't believe you can pass on drugs especially if it's likely they have been opened.

You could talk to your fertility clinic as they may have a programme?

A wonderful colleague of mine gave me her unused Menopur and Cyclogest which she didn't need after very happily falling pregnant naturally just before embarking on ICSI for the 2nd time. I discussed it with my clinic nurse, and once she had checked that they were in date and sealed, she gave us the go ahead to use them for our 2nd round of IUI. The result was DD who will be 6 in February - I will be forever grateful to that amazing friend of mine.

There were still some vials of Menopur left over after I completed my cycle (not as much needed for IUI as IVF), so I passed them on to another friend and her clinic were also happy for her to use them.

Wishing you much luck with your treatment Wadadlis!
