IVF versus female sterilisation reversal

Hi,
I've been doing my research about having my clips removed and it seems to be a major operation involving a week in hospital and quite a lengthy recovery period.
Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of this op? Would it be a.cheaper and b. Potentially quicker to have ivf?
Any advice?!

Hi I don't really have a clue but I didn't want you to go unanswered. FWIW I think both have their perils. I would think you'd need to look at how successful either are....IVF is by no means successful every time and would involve taking medication and going in for repeated treatments so although the clip reversal seems more intense initially it may be one week treatment/recovery vs ivf with lots of appointments.

Can you have a discussion with a fertility consultant about it? I wish we had when my DP had his vasectomy reversal - we talked to the urologist surgeon about it and he was confident of a good outcome technically speaking, but that isn't necessarily the same in terms of a fertility outcome. I would have thought it would be worth forking out for a private consultation with someone who knows about it. Also, anything requiring a general anesthetic comes with inherent risks. I've been through IVF (I'm 35, no fertility problems) due to the unsuccessful op reversal and although it's not exactly a picnic, I survived whilst doing 15 hour work days, although everyone is different. I was/am mad as a squirrel in a bin! Outcome not yet known - embryo transfer tomorrow morning as it happens!
