what a strange combination they seem

oh well, takes all sorts, I suppose

she seems a bit like an airhead and he fancies himself as rather clever

< shrugs >

southeastastra · 09/06/2010 23:01

yes been some threads i think they're a super duper cute couple

MarineIguana · 09/06/2010 23:03

She is not an airhead at all I think, I was reading an interview with her the other day. She's in her 30s now and seemed very intelligent and funny (so a good match!). Just because loads of blokes were drooling over her when she was a lot younger does not make her dim.

I hope it is the real deal for them.

elsiepiddock · 09/06/2010 23:04

I too was amazed. She annoyed me on BP, but it's nice, non?

AnyFucker · 09/06/2010 23:06

err.... MI, I was not wishing them ill

just not a couple you would imagine together...maybe opposites attract, who knows (or cares, tbh )

has he been married before ?

scurryfunge · 09/06/2010 23:06

Something old, something new, something borowed, something I made earlier

herjazz · 09/06/2010 23:09

kh is really v nice and funny

AnyFuleKno · 09/06/2010 23:10

I would never have imagined them together in a million squillion years. Maybe it's cos she was on blue peter. I can't imagine them tucked up in bed together wearing matching pyjamas.

Thread here

AnyFuleKno · 09/06/2010 23:14

Sorry to have started duplicate thread, have just found the original one. Apparently I'm not the only one in mourning.

Stop the clocks etc...

i can't picture them together either really but there you go

MagalyZz · 09/06/2010 23:21

she's not an airhead. she seems quite 'wholesome' though, & Cambridge degree. Perfect daughter.

I don't see why it's an odd match at all. He's successful, funny, not totally UNattractive! I'm not getting why it's supposed to surprise us so much.

RustyBear · 09/06/2010 23:38

I have met her, thanks to MN's Fairy Liquid competition, and she is definitely not an airhead - she was great with the kids at school, (pictures here) she answered all their questions seriously, even though she must have heard a lot of them hundreds of times, didn't talk down to them at all.

MarineIguana · 10/06/2010 09:05

I didn't imply you wished them ill AF!

Touchy!

Plus if you don't care, why click on sleb twaddle threads (shouldn't this be in sleb twaddle?)

I care - in fact recently I was spending some of my few precious remaining brain cells wondering when someone was going to snare Brooker.

NadiaWadia · 10/06/2010 09:05

They seem such an unlikely couple, don't they? I mean, you wouldn't even think they'd get on.

Pretty wholesome ex-BP presenter and cynical TV critc who swears a lot. His column in the Guardian and his TV shows are quite amusing but my God he is a grumpy git!
(seems to have a permanent scowl as well) .. don't know why a lot of MNetters seem to fancy him really....

NadiaWadia · 10/06/2010 09:07

In fact, so unlikely do they seem that you have to wonder if the whole thing is some kind of sophisticated wind-up.

MarineIguana · 10/06/2010 09:08

But people who work in kids' TV are not actually necessarily wholesome off-screen. I've met some very cynical and witty ones.

BalloonSlayer · 10/06/2010 09:10

Oh come on I'll say it.

She is VERY pretty.

He is NOT AT ALL handsome.

NadiaWadia · 10/06/2010 09:20

Too right, BalloonSlayer!

MarineIguana · 10/06/2010 09:24

He's sexy though on account of his wit. And it's hardly the first time a successful ugly man has pulled a hottie is it? He's a lot fitter than Salman Rushdie, for starters.

MagalyZz · 10/06/2010 12:44

I don't think he's unattractive. I think his face is one of those blank canvases that a personality makes or breaks, and if she loves his personality, his blank canvas will appeal gorgeous to her.

Salman Rushdie is too ugly for this theory to work. There is a limit.

MagalyZz · 10/06/2010 12:44

appear gorgeous to her I mean. NOt appeal.
