Whatever the case is here, and I know that these cases are often complex, but whatever happened to commonsense?

I do get rather pissed off with the fathers in these cases where the mother has been clearly negligent.

There he is spouting about how much he loves his kids etc, yet these children were in care.

Why weren't they with him?

SS would not place children in care if there was a responsible parent on the scene.

TheCrackFox · 24/05/2010 21:59

Completely agree with you Tiredlady.

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/05/2010 22:27

There are many reasons why the children may not be with the father, the first of which would be the SS.

GypsyMoth · 24/05/2010 22:31

so they were taken from a contact centre??

well just shows these places are NOT safe!! i had concerns regarding my ex using one to see our children also....they dont meet the needs of what they are meant for....safe contact!

There could be numerous reasons why the dad couldn't have them living with him. As there is no indication in the story as to why that was then it is a bit cruel to speculate don't you think?

The focus here should be on why the mother was allowed access to them after the previous attempt. If something happens to those children then...

tiredlady · 25/05/2010 21:19

Contrary to popular tabloid belief, SS don't remove children from their family if there is ANY responsible member who would have them.
Quite frankly,in my experience of child protection, SS are so desperate to keep the kids with family menbers, they often get looked after by quite unsuitable people who would never pass the criteria for fostering or adoption.

So, yes, We have no idea why this father didn't have his children living with him, but nonetheless comments like his do wind me up unfortunately
.
Baby Peter's dad had a rant as well, but where the fuck was he in that poor child's life?

Animation · 25/05/2010 21:47

Well it didn't sit comfortable with me the fact this was the 3rd item on the news. These kids are with their mother - not a paedophile.

And I didn't have a lot of time for the father sat on a bench and looking at photos in a dramatic fashion. My first thoughts were - why isn't he looking after the kids then. He was articulate and looked capable.

"
It emerged yesterday that her former boyfriend Billy Francis, 32, who is the twins? father, served eight months in jail in 2008 for attacking Miss Dyson.

Olympia claimed her mother, who ran a bed and breakfast, put the children into care voluntarily to sort herself out, but had been let down by social workers and was terrified she would not get them back.

She said: ?Yes she has an alcohol problem, but this stemmed from years of domestic violence at the hands of William Francis, which culminated in the involvement of both the social services and police in 2008.?

A friend of Miss Dyson said: ?She was never an alcoholic but was driven to drink by Francis? abuse. She?s an intelligent woman who is desperate to keep her family together and is terrified of having her two kids taken off her permanently. " link

Twins found safe and well
Very sad story, surely the twins should be with their older siblings...

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/05/2010 08:03

It's really awful. I know that if social services had MY children I would stop at nothing to get them back. And yes, that would include snatching them and getting on a plane with them as fast as I could!

I feel so sorry for her and for those children.

ShinyAndNew · 26/05/2010 08:18

I had been thinking that about the father last night TiredLady after seeing him on the news.

He didn't actually seem that upset either. Angry, yes, but not actually upset.

If someone had taken my children and there was a possibility they were in another country and I'd never see them again, I'd be hysterical. I'd have to be sedated. I would not be any fit state to be sitting on a park bench chatting with a journalist.

I do hope the mother gets the help she needs to get them back.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 26/05/2010 08:20

Twins found

When it was said the SW wanted to keep contact with the twins and the mother my blood went cold and I went back to 30 plus years ago when SW wanted to do the same in my case and fucked up my life.

No idea why the kids are not with dad but I would put money on there being plenty of families longing to adopt them.

dustycups · 26/05/2010 18:20

those poor chidren! they must be so scared and confused by whats going on!

nymphadora · 26/05/2010 18:23

I do a lot of contacts as part of my job and I am not allowed to let the children out of my sight. It said on the news that the SW was making a drink so did the SW leave the room for that?

Animation · 26/05/2010 21:14

Yes, thought the father looked a bit dodgy - and obviously intent on maligning the mother. Hope she can get her act together - and get custody of her twins back.
