She really does write beautifully. I may have to reconsider my refusal to read any Harry Potter books.

Some of the comments below are pretty awful.

Love her. Shocked at some of the comments. I thought I was on the Daily Mail website for a moment.

"People don't have problems with siongle mothers per se, as we all know at least one and see them struggle - people have a problem with women using benefits as a long term solution rather than the safety net it was set up to be."

So what should we do about it? Cancel all welfare in case someone misuses it?

Plus, please can you show me the stats which prove many women use the system in this way.

Plus, contrary to popular belief and the holy word of the Daily Mail, it isn't actually possible for a woman to "get herself pregnant". Why is there never any discussion about the father's role in all this?

Thanks for posting this dollius, I hadn't seen it. JK is dead right IMO. I was the child of a divorced parents under a Tory government and all that spite felt very personal. Oddly enough none of the Tory gits stopped screwing their mistresses long enough to criticise fathers like mine, only the mothers. And in my case, typically, she was the one who was desperately trying to hold everything together and working herself into the ground trying to do it.

That was a good article I agree, and I don't like J.K. Rowling much. I don't think she writes very well (and I have a large collection of children's fiction), and I think she is money grubbing (I note that article was copyrighted - I've never seen that before!). Of course the fact that I agree with her sentiments might be the reason why I thought it well written, but very similar sentiments were expressed here by a variety of people when that daft £150 marriage bribe policy was announced.

Now I think she is even more fabulous after reading that and I cannot understand how anyone can respond negatively to that article.

Btw she gives away a substantial portion of her own money to charity.

A campaign has been set up on the back of the article

"Now I think she is even more fabulous after reading that and I cannot understand how anyone can respond negatively to that article."

Maybe because some of us who were single parents under the tories don't agree with her poetic licence?
