Fashion photographer Terry Richardson & allegations of the exploitation of young models

So the exploitative nature of the fashion industry is increasingly well-documented, but the stories regarding Terry Richardson's behaviour are so unbelievably creepy I want to take a shower after reading them. And inevitably, the industry is lining up to make excuses for it.

To be fair, not all photogrpahers are like that! I know one photography forum I was on referred to men like him a MWC (man with camera), eg. they are using the camera for sex not photography.

There are plenty of photographers out there who don't do that though. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who will go to these perverts, because the perverts are very good at self publicity.

Kaloki, the problem with Richardson is that he is not just some 2-bit photographer but seriously successful. He shoots for fashion chains such as H&M, designers such as Marc Jacobs and publications like Vogue. They all seem to be fully aware of what's going on and are happy to excuse it.

I remember reading a feature on him ages ago, which was meant to be complimentary, and I just came away feeling slightly soiled. He seems a revolting man, yet weilds so much power over these young girls that he's got away with it for years

I've been creeped out by his photos for years. Lots of fashion shoots show flesh but his shots are just creepy. Don't like them at all and don't rate him as a photographer.
