Parents accept 18k for silence over child abuse

what on earth is wrong with these parents?

there must be some way to prosecute both the parents and this abuser

why aren't the police pursuing it ? There seems to be no question of guilt here...so surely enough evidence to prosecute even without the 4 yo's testimony...

The abuser has been prosecuted.

The parents have not.

He has been given a non-custodial sentence - and this may be the reason (from sentencing guidelines, freely available on the internet)

"Treatment programmes are usually only available to those who are given a long
community order (normally 3 years), and may not always be available for those
sentenced to shorter custodial sentences."

surely in blackmailing this man (vile though his offences are ) they have committed a serious crime and should face charges. IMO they should also face charges of child abuse and neglect.
