HH - I really really sympathise. What would his journey through Kings X have been, and what time does he start work?

Only one line in Kings X was affected, and the explosion was on the picadilly line, between King's X and Russell sq. If he wasn't llikely to have been there, on that exact part of that line, i honeltly think it will be a case of 'no news is good news'.

And since there isn't much you can actually DO, might it be best to hold off calling his wife? If there is the slightest chance that she might not be 100% re-assured by your call?

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 12:32

Unfortunatly MN cant help - although not for lack of trying. SO thank you mn and justine.

So nothing i can do now

Blu · 08/07/2005 12:33

But HH - what ARE the answers to the q's about exactly which part of which line he might have been travelling on?

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 12:36

Dont know exactly, never had reason to ask him iyswim. I know he goes through kings x cause he told me once in conversation. Wish i'd listened more now.

I know that maybe he wasnt involved but nagging at me is that he wouldnt ignore my emails and calls either.

I'll bloody kill him myself if he comes back with some pathetic excuse now

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 12:36

although obviously i would prefer an excuse to anything else

jinglybits · 08/07/2005 12:46

thinking of you hh. if i can be a little brutal - it seems that not a lot of the people who didn't make it have been identified, therefore your friends wife probably wouldn't have heard such news and if was in any position to be waiting for it would probably be by the phone at home - and you say there is no answer. It seems that possibly 1) he came home and they went out or were too engrossed in each other to answer the phone or 2) perhaps he is in hospital, and she is with him but this is only a perhaps and hopefully if he is injured it is not too critically, ststistically there were a lot more minor injuries than major ones. I truely feel for you not knowing but do try to keep positive until more time has passed and you have contact/news, thousands of people pass through kings x every 0mins, statistics are on your side. all my love x.

Blu · 08/07/2005 13:04

Sit tight, HH, and dream up things to say when you get that e mail!!

I know that any degree of worry just takes root, and can't be quelled by simple statistics, but King's X has 6 different tube lines going through, a main line station and a local overground station. So you can travel through King's X by loads of routes (especially when you tink that each tube line has two tunnels going in opposite directions) without going anywhere near the affected line.

HH, do you know that he isn't actually out of the country on a short hol, hence no mobile and no answer on home phone etc?

There will be an explanation: There are 15 million people in London, of which, sadly, 50 were lost. Pin your mind on that 15 million to 50 statistic.

I know this incident focusses our worry and panic, and of course it is nothing makes this anything other than an atrocity, but every year more than 3000 people get killed on the roads.

Can you try to distract yourself until you get that hoped for good news?

Aero · 08/07/2005 13:10

Nothing from piffle as far as I can see. I sincerely hope he's ok piffle.

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 13:11

Thanks for you reassurance, its helpful to know the statistics and stuff - keeps be hoping.

I know he was at work yesteday cause i spoke to him the night before.

any news on piffle yet?

jinglybits · 08/07/2005 13:17

i know anything we say you already know, i really feel for you playing the waiting game is awful! ..could it be that he's only stored your number in his mobile phone and has lost it at an inopportune time! could be if his wife's a bit shaken up he's not at work today and they've gone out for the day, perhaps he just hasn't thought to get on the internet. I expect when he does see this thread and find out hopw worried you've been he will be extra-ordinarily touched

starlover · 08/07/2005 13:19

perhaps his wife or someone else was injured and he is with them...

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 13:40

there are lots of ifs and buts, which is a good thing i suppose

FrumpyGrumpy · 08/07/2005 14:10

DP was in Liverpool St yesterday (we live in Scotland and he works in London in the week). Held my dear four year old and baby twins tight for half hour til we heard from him. He walked miles last night carrying all his stuff and somehow caught a train and a plane home arriving here 10pm! Was never so glad and still get teary. My traumatic lifestyle has had a firm kick up the arse and is in perspective. Sending all my best to those still waiting for news. Sit tight.

madrush · 08/07/2005 14:51

Just want to add my best wishes to those still waiting for news. I'm in central london and people are going about things almost as normal, but somehow things seem quieter.

HH particularly, keep remembering those ifs and buts. Thinking of you.

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 16:14

Sorry there is still no news HH.

Do you know the name of the firm he works for? Can you get in touch there, as a concerned friend, to see if they have any news?

HappyHuggy · 08/07/2005 16:19

you know when you just cant remember something but you know you know it somewhere?

Am getting really annoyed with him now - and i know thats an irrational response but its easier than worrying.

If he bloody dares to tell me he forgot to answer my call or forget to get back to me i'll bloody kill him!

The only thing i can think of is that he kept my details in his mobile so he could have lost it in the panic.

Theres nothing i can do here so am just going to try and put it out of my mind. I wont post again on here till i have news either way.

Thank you for all your thoughts and am thinking of you piffle xxxx

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 16:22

OK; good luck. Hope the news is good.

Blu · 08/07/2005 16:36

A lot of comapnies in the affected areas seem to have told staff not to come in today, so another reason he may not have seen your messages.

Put your mind elsewhere - as you say, there really in't anything you can do, however uncomfortable that is.

AnnaInManchester · 08/07/2005 17:05

I'm really sorry your going thru this happy huggy xxx

How often do u speak to this guy? Is he like a best friend who u speak to regularly?

Who's using text speak?

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 18:34

Not sure this is the right thread to pick people up on this? Maybe a new one would be better?

bundle · 08/07/2005 18:35

hello everyone. nearly got on a kings x train yesterday when the tubes were down (piccadilly line is my tube, i normally get off at holborn, one stop after russell sq. thank god we're lazy gits in my office - bbc - as hardly anyone gets in before 10am anyway..our roll call was complete so all fine). glad i didn't (actually stepped off because of overcrowding, then driver of next train said there was a bomb at aldgate, so I decided not to go into c.London) and spent the day instead at dd2's nursery, then picked up dd1 early. been a bit jittery all day, but made up for it by visiting the lovely new junior Miss Hoxtonchick, and I can confirm she is gorgeous

ssd · 08/07/2005 18:37

Nice to hear some good news!

mishmash · 08/07/2005 18:37
