hmm saw this live, not a flattering look all round is it

Fleecy · 20/01/2010 15:00

Good point Skidoodle - maybe I am part reptilian but I definitely prefer my legs smooth!

Now spots on the other hand... I do suffer and was appalled to see the same lovely website pointing out that Daisy Lowe suffered a breakout on her chin. Teenager gets spots - newsworthy indeed

Very pleased to see a woman like me. I have friend who never deals with her hair but she's pale and it doesn't really show.

I'm not - I wax when I have to - but reluctantly and it's so refreshing to see a woman being natural - why do we deny our natural ways ie bit of fat, hair etc.

Loving this woman - she's a woman.

Fantastic. I have given up on my legs atm and they are a bit hairier than that, combo of winter and pregnancy sickness means there really is no point. I do prefer the feel of them when they are all smooth though, much as it is a massive pita to defluff, it does feel nice. I have really hairy arms and very rarely do anything about them though.

NonVinaigretteRien · 21/01/2010 20:19

Good for her for having a laugh about it.

And for being honest.

How very refreshing.

Whereas a couple of the comments here are a bit depressing.

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 20:27

mine?

NonVinaigretteRien · 21/01/2010 21:48

Well, it was a bit odd. But more worried by "nicer to have smooth lady legs"

but that has been discussed.

DuelingFanjo · 21/01/2010 21:50

I only have to shave my legs a few times a year, I think I must be lucky!

Jux · 21/01/2010 22:10

Good on her.

I too have lady legs, but then I am female and I do have legs. Mine haven't been depilated in any way, shape or form, for about 8 months now. I don't have any particular feelings about it either way, but sometimes I get the urge to do it (and I don't care why, or what that says about my psychological state) and more often than not, I don't.

But I always wear long skirts

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 22/01/2010 09:58

thing is they only look strange, odd, different (whatever word you want to use) because we've become used to shaved legs as being the "right" way to be - the only really acceptable way to be. That men have hairy legs and women should shave (ermmm why?? to fit some male ideal)

I don't shave my legs or my armpits (well I do the latter if I'm going to wear a strapless top in the summer - but only a little trim)

Guess it help that I have blonde hair so legs not particularly noticeable.

Like just once in a while I'll get the urge to do something with my legs..........but usually get bored once I get just above the knee

oh and I never wear makeup either (ok maybe a bit of mascara and lippy 2 or 3 times a year)

belgo · 22/01/2010 10:02

After shaving my legs for the last 20 years I stopped last september and the skin on my legs feels so much better for it. Far softer and less itchy. And my legs aren't even that hairy, which surprises me, I went swimming a few times with my friend who always notices things like this and she didn't notice!

Abubu · 22/01/2010 10:33

Sorry but I can't understand how she could go out like this.
Sunday morning to get a paper, fair enough - but shes dressed up for the red carpet for goodness sakes.

Nice dress, hair done, nails done all very nice.
Hairy legs - Noooo!

Yes it's natural. But it would also be natural to never cut or wash your hair, brush your teeth etc.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 22/01/2010 13:24

i think she's done it, and shown it off, for the perverse pleasure of not doing what everyone else feels they have to do. it's funny... i think she's hilarious for having done it.

Abubu -it is very natural and healthy to have good hygiene.

Also natural for women to have body hair.

Fleecy · 22/01/2010 16:17

I like that she's stuck two fingers up at the idealised beauty thing. And that she's enjoying being at the fancy do with the hair and the pedicure and the posh frock - but on her own terms.

I just don't happen to like hairy legs! I don't like it when DH doesn't shave his face either so it's not like I expect one thing for him and one for me. (Not all his face obviously, I prefer him with eyebrows)

Earlier on, Nonvinaigretterien said my use of 'nicer to have smooth lady legs' was worrying and I suppose I don't understand why.

If you're still here, please elaborate!
