How sad - she was good in 8 Mile

Young people do die unexpectedly of heart failure (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) - one of our neighbours lost her only son to it and now raises money for CRY to help prevent it happening to other people.

Rindercella · 20/12/2009 19:36

Don't think I would dare to Maggie

MaggieAnFiaRua · 20/12/2009 19:38

'dare to'? I'm not an aggressive poster Rindercella. I think you might be confusing me with somebody else.

hohoholepew · 20/12/2009 19:42

Very sad, she did a voice in King Of The Hill, it always made me laugh.

MegSophandEmma · 20/12/2009 19:44

How sad

She was fab in "Just Married," with Ashton kutcher.

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 20/12/2009 20:02

How awful. Poor girl. Thoughts go out to her husband and family.

GhoulsAreLoud · 20/12/2009 20:10

How sad.

Maggie I would ignore her, it's clear who's got the attitude problem.

expatinscotland · 20/12/2009 20:19

Other news agencies are reporting she has died, too.

How tragic!

expatinscotland · 20/12/2009 20:23

One of my first cousin's also died of a heart attack, age 39.

She did not drink, smoke or do drugs. She had never touched any of them in her life.

She was obese and we have a strong history of coronary artery disease on the paternal side.

She left behind a 2-year-old girl and a bereft husband.

This was several years ago.

Her husband remarried, a widow with an 8-year-old son, and as a blended family they are truly wonderful.

Sandra is a true mother to Sara, and Alberto is a father to Miguel.

There is much involvement from all the family.

Things could have been so different.

We all so miss Yolanda.

Heart disease can strike at any age, and sadly, as women often present with different symptoms from men, it's common enough they are misdiagnosed or even ignored or told they are just stressed or menopausal until it is too late.

jaquelinehyde · 20/12/2009 20:29

So anyone who doesn't find it sad is an emotional idiot as far as I'm concerned.

Nemofish · 20/12/2009 20:38

Lol expat, they sound like quite a contemporary family, you might say.

expatinscotland · 20/12/2009 20:45

Sort of, Nemo, except that the absent parents are not in this world anymore.

Miguel's birth father was killed when his car was struck by a drunk driver when Miguel was 3.

Miguel was in the car, but unhurt.

And of course, Yolanda died at home, asking her husband to call 911 one evening around 9PM before collapsing in her chair.

Her husband was performing CPR on her when the ambulance arrived a few minutes later, but she was pronounced dead a few minutes after arrival at hospital.

So not exactly your usual step-family.

expatinscotland · 20/12/2009 20:47

As far as Alberto tells it, she was gone when she collapsed.

She went into cardiac arrest and her poor heart just never beat again.

Poor Brittany!

Even worse, poor Brittany's family.

So sad.

ilovesprouts · 20/12/2009 21:24

it said on sky news she had a heart murmur

Rindercella · 20/12/2009 21:26

Really sorry Maggie, I must have misread your post. I blame it on my 3rd bloody cold in a month, pregnancy hormones, tiredness and being in a foul mood. My original post re Jean Moir was for anyone who would say that 32 year olds 'don't just die'. They very sadly do. In this case it is far too early to hazard a guess at the causes.

scottishmummy · 20/12/2009 21:29

very sad,saw on toronto sun.she was a very pretty talented actress. is cause known yet?are drugs implicated?

so sad for her family

MissMoopy · 20/12/2009 21:45

I know it is cynical but when famous folk die, I always suspeect drugs!

Janos · 20/12/2009 21:56

It is really sad, 32 is so young.

Don't remember her film roles but loved her work on King of the Hill.

ilovesprouts · 20/12/2009 22:18

some nasty person has gone on gone too soon and put a nasty comment on her page {angry]

AvrilH · 21/12/2009 08:56

so sad

they are showing images of her looking gaunt and unwell, saying she was on perscription drugs

I am sure I remember that it was announced that she had breast cancer a couple of years ago?

expatinscotland · 21/12/2009 09:08

Brittany's mother had breast cancer.

Brittany's cause of death, according to the coroner, appears to be natural.

She was also diabetic.

NYTIMES

AvrilH · 21/12/2009 09:14

I must have read it in the UK Times this morning

entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article6963737.ece

"Three years ago, Murphy told an American health magazine that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer herself..."

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 21/12/2009 14:45

She was very skinny. My first thought was that it must be anorexia related. Poor thing.

SantaWears2SnowShoes · 21/12/2009 15:20

very sad, I liked her in 8 mile

natapillar · 21/12/2009 22:47

It's really sad news,I heard about it last night....and it seems already the gossip mongers are out in full force. tut tut, shame on u. A family have just lost their daughter/wife/sister... and to be making comments about her lifestyle is very unfair!!
