What a silly article. There is no evidence that any of the ladies on that ward weren't residents just because they were born somewhere else! London is full of all different nationalities so it would make sense that the ward reflected that. Doesn't mean people are there illegally. We are so lucky to live here anyway.

"Yet few hospitals are prepared to turn away a pregnant patient in the late stages of labour. Indeed, the Government recently issued an instruction telling them to admit such women without question."

yes, because the alternative of sending women away to give birth on the street or in their home alone, or in a hotel is so much better, safer and would not have any impact on teh NHS a woman who delivered alone and had complications such as shoulder dystocia, PPH, retained placenta would end up as an acute case in teh NHS, whihc would cost too

vile, vile, nasty articel

wonder how many of the british born people treated in hospitals have evaded/avoided tax , for example?

"Some have arrived at Chelsea and Westminster - and other London hospitals - straight from the airport with the ticket tags still on their suitcases."

The above quote is hilarious - you can't even fly after 34 weeks can you? Imagine all these ladies on the plane in labour with their hospital bags at the ready, then straight on the tube!! Evil medical tourists!!!!

That Scottish pregnant woman who nearly died of swine flu was treated in Sweden. Shocking!
