Suri Cruise shopping in high heels... she is 3 FFS!

Sorry I know this not exactly news but seriously IMO this is just wrong!

Am I over reacting or am I right in thinking that 'celebs' should not be leading the way in sexualizing children? There are mothers out there who aspire to be like them and I dread to think that this could end up a trend amongst some...

I realise that there are days were your child may argue and argue to wear toy shoes (fair enough some fights you just can't win) but this seems to be a regular thing wih her.

what I mean is DS likes to try on my shoes but I think it would be dangerous to let him walk any distance and up and down steps in them, no matter how much of a hissy fit he throws. And I'm a soft touch!

I was going to say what Flame said. It's the Sun trying to sell papers stop being so suggestable! is it suggestible?

TrillianAstra · 20/11/2009 09:46

I am more shocked that Suri Cruise is 3 than by anything else.

Wasn't Katie Holmes in Dawson's Creek only about 3 years ago?

mamadiva · 20/11/2009 09:51

It wasn't just in the sun though admittedly that's where I saw it.

She was also spotted in September wearing heels on a shopping trip. And I'm sure there have been several other times too.

Just my opinion but I just think it's wrong and again I did say it in my OP that it was probably for the sake of a fight kind of thing.

LOL Trillian, Dawsons Crack finished 6 years ag (thankfully )

You're just trying to deny your age Trillian.

I have a feeling Suri is just a bit younger or older than DS... if he were a girl (or just had heels that fit) he would most likely end up shopping in them as I can't be arsed. It is hard enough convincing him not to wear sandals at the moment!

made it into the Daily Mail again!

particularly loving Nicole from Australia's work!

"Please stop citing Mumsnet and its users as if they were some form of "uber-parents". They are just a bunch of women with too much time and not enough sense themselves!

twice!

DuelingFanjo · 10/12/2009 23:14

three times

Same quote three times, what lazy journalism!

AitchTwoToTangOh · 10/12/2009 23:14

her feet so rarely hit the ground, what's the problem?

JackTheHallsWithBauersOfHolly · 10/12/2009 23:42

I just feel so sorry for them. It's bad enough going anywhere with DD1, who is suri's age and at prime tantrum/hissy fit/overly loud dramatics stage without having paparazzi following you and your child everywhere.
She isn't going to grow up 'normal' but neither would your child if she had photographers watching her every move and commenting on ehr outfits.

Highlander · 11/12/2009 12:27

don't look any different to my friend's DD's 'clipy clopy shoes' that she likes to dress up in

AtheneNoctua · 11/12/2009 12:33

Does anyone else think we should have a Cruise tax instead of a bank tax?

Mongolia · 11/12/2009 12:48

My main concern is that it looks very cold and this girl is not wearing warm shoes. Her mother has never been exactly a page 3 symbols so I wouldn't worry about sexualisation of children more so when MANY years that age are allowed to wear toy plastic high heels which are not only more damaging to the feet but also more sexy...

Mongolia · 11/12/2009 12:49

many years? many girls! even.

thatsnotmymonster · 11/12/2009 12:56

I have a 3yo dd and she loves make up- would ahppily wear it everyday if I let her and would love to carry around a little bag of make up, My 3yo neice is the same. Me and my sis are average busy, harrassed mothers to 3 children who slap on a bit of powder and mascara and that's it unless we're going out!

Also my 3yo loves to think she's dressing the same as me- if I wear leggings, she wants to, if I wear my brown boots, she wants to wear hers etc.

It is normal and it must be so much more normal to Suri because Katie will spend more time choosing her wardrobe, shopping, hair, makeup etc than most of us!

I still think she is maybe wearing heels to much though

AtheneNoctua · 11/12/2009 12:58

Intersting then that Katie is wering nice comfy flat shoes while Suri stumbles in heels. I wonder how a broken ankle will impact her future acting career. I guess they aren't really aiming for the dance thing.

CatIsSleepy · 11/12/2009 13:00

teehee at this comment after one of those DM articles

'And as for those mumsnet harridans - spend more time looking after your children and less time sitting on your backside criticising all and sundry!'

thatsnotmymonster · 11/12/2009 13:01

I thought that too

Why can't Suri just wear some baby Uggs or something. It does look cold and wet but then she did say that Suri 'chooses what she wants to wear'...

CatIsSleepy · 11/12/2009 13:05

well I blooming well choose what dd1 wears
