i like the way she's planning to tell her parents this weekend... let's hope they don't read the grauniad, eh...

madwomanintheattic · 16/11/2009 00:29
onebatmother · 16/11/2009 00:30

nobody's parents read the graun

whass the cawk thread?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 00:35

fucking hell, she can kiss goodbye to her career. she's insane.

madwomanintheattic · 16/11/2009 00:42

i rather suspect she's not that fussed about her science career...

AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 00:45

she's a terrible, terrible writer, though. i had to read her book for a work thing (don't ask) and it was hideous.

onebatmother · 16/11/2009 00:54

she is insane. that is seriously self-sabotaging - she fessed up bcs 'anonymity is boring - I don't even get to go to my own booklaunches'. I think she kind of defines 'risk-taking behaviours' no?

I feel a bit odd bcs I was convinced taht it was written by a male Spectator columnist or similar.

Actually, someone like Rod Hull Liddle.

OP posts:
AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 00:56

me too. you're absolutely right about teh risk taking behaviour, of course.

onebatmother · 16/11/2009 01:03

Massively attention-seeking too, all of it. Expresses (imo) predictably damaged and self-loathing psyche concordant with her initial choice 1. to be a prostitute 2. to write about it

OP posts:
AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 01:15

yyy. another brainy blonde fuck-up. neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeext.

Well it is a good kick in the nuts to all those (mostly male) journos who insisted that Belle Du Jour couldn't be a real woman/sex worker because the blog had too many long words in it.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 01:46

the book didn't have any long words in it, sgb, did they cut them out?

onebatmother · 16/11/2009 10:16

oh but it was vair 'literary' Aitch

OP posts:
AitchTwoToTangOh · 16/11/2009 10:22

unfortunately my copy has long gone to the charity shop (how mortifying to hand that over) or i could easily disprove that.

morningpaper · 16/11/2009 10:28

I just read "preparing for the viva" as "preparing for the vulva"

Agree re. student loans...

WilfSell · 16/11/2009 10:30

CAWK is CRap Academics with Kids (who haven't done enough research)

I am a MainStay

Blimey.

But I think she'd have had to be selling sex to the VC to lose her job. Very difficult to be sacked, even these days... And since she's not a frontline medic or anything, is there an ethical conflict? I dunno.
