Well as long as it's bigger than ds (4lb 6oz) I'm not fussed. If it's small I'll be in fashion

Monday, June 13 2005, 14:40 BST -- by Kris Green

Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward and her fiancé - Birmingham City footballer David Dunn - were today celebrating the birth of their first child.

Mia Dunn was delivered in a natural birth yesterday morning (Sunday 12th) and weighed 5lbs 4oz.

Sammy commented: "David and I are both absolutely delighted with our new arrival."

Series producer Kathy Beedles said: "We are all thrilled for Sammy and David on the birth of their daughter Mia and wish them every happiness."

Sammy, who is currently on maternity leave from her role as Katie Sugden, will return to the show in January.

Going to be a bit controversial here, but it sounds like she may have had a 4 week early planned C-section as many celebs do these days - would explain the low birthweight and the 'mix up' re dates... plus the fact there's no way she looks nine months pregnant on that photo, esp not with her second baby!

With a wedding planned for september perhaps she wants to get on with losing al that non-existent weight she probably thinks she's put on??!

Congrats to them both though, i hope all goes well!!!

Nbg · 13/06/2005 16:22

Awww lovely.

Look forward to hearing the others announcement. She always comes across as such a nice person.

Nbg · 13/06/2005 16:24

Not awww lovely that she's had a 4 week early C section.

ButtonMoon · 13/06/2005 16:25

I did think that myself pudding....I'm 5 months pg and look as pregnant as her!!! Celebs do it to stop the stretch marks apparently that appear in the last month or in my case the last 3!!? (with DD )

ButtonMoon · 13/06/2005 16:26

Then again as she had had so many health nightmares with Harvey would she put this baby at risk without proper need??? I'd hope not.

PinkFluffPudding · 13/06/2005 16:26

Hey, I'm five months preg too and already looking far bigger than i did with my first! Not quite as big as Jordan looks but gettting there!

Fio2 · 13/06/2005 16:30

oh leave her alone she has enough on her plate. i doubt very much she had early on purpose

SaintGeorge · 13/06/2005 16:34

I'm sure she was due in June so very much doubt a 4 week early C-section.

I was smaller than that at full term with both my babies and they were 7lb 5 and 7lb.

gaelsgirl · 13/06/2005 16:51

how lovely, many congrats to them both

crunchie · 13/06/2005 16:58

Dr's wouldn't perferm a c-section if it wasn't necesary. As far as I have read she certianly had a v-birth first time around so I doubt she would have 'chosen' a section unless there was a reason for it. For everything that is written about Jordan/Katie Price you cannot fault her as a mother. I don't 'know' her except for what I have read and seen, and I actually admire her more than some 'fake' celebs. She has worked hard (and played hard) and has now got two kids, why do people think she MUST have chosen and early birth to stave off stetch marks, not everyone gets them, I didn't and I put on 4 stone She is a good mother to Harvey, and is lucky that she can pick and choose work so she can be with him. Good luck to them all, if I looked like her I'd do what she does, she was the highest paid model in the UK last year (more than Kate moss etc) and you don't get there without a bit of brians and common sense.

vickiyumyum · 13/06/2005 17:48

i was v surprised to hear that harvey was 9lb as have seen her in real life and shes absolutley tiny! can't imagine how a 9lber could ahve grown inside that tiny little woman.
the children have different dads too so this may effect birth weight? e.g i was born 6lb 5oz and my dhwas 10lb 4oz, when had my 2 ds they were 10lb4oz and 10lb6oz! i blame it on dh!
if she had a vaginal delivery last time i suspect that this little one was either breech or some other emergency occurred during labour.
i hope that all is well with them and that little harvey likes his new baby brother.

Gwenick · 13/06/2005 17:51

I have a friend who turned round when I was first expecting DS2 and told me "oh yes I'm due in 1 month's time" - she didn't even LOOK pg - and sickenly she went from a size 6, up to (shock horror) a size 10 with her 2nd, 1st pg she apparently only went up to size 8 .

I saw her 2 days before she had the baby, and if you didn't KNOW she was pg you'd never have known!

sparklymieow · 13/06/2005 17:53

I was only 5lb 13oz 2 weeks early. My Ds was 5lb 2oz 4 weeks early. So sounds like she has delivered early and I can't see the doctors delivering early unless they need to, DS was an emer. CS when I went into labour and he was breech.

mears · 13/06/2005 17:54

Perhaps there was concern about the baby's growth hence the C/S? I can't believe a doctor would perform a C/S 4 weeks early for a celeb. Too risky re breathing difficulties.

sparklymieow · 13/06/2005 17:55

DS had some breathing problems and also had very low blood sugars and was rushed to SCBU, I hope their baby is ok

Hulababy · 13/06/2005 17:56

I thought I had read that the dates given out changed a bit, so they didn't have loads of press hanging around waiting for them to have to go to hospital.

Congratiulations to them all. Really hope that this little one hasn't inherited all of the medical conditions her eldest boy hhas.

Don't care how she had her baby; not my business. Just wish them well.

NomDePlume · 13/06/2005 18:13

congrats to them.

Gobbledigook · 13/06/2005 18:28

Re the c section; from the c website:

Jordan is said to have planned a natural birth but had a Caesarean after experiencing complications in her pregnancy.

Andre said he and Jordan were "a bit scared" because the baby was not due for another three to four weeks, but overnight complications prompted the decision to have a Caesarean birth on Monday morning.

Asked how Jordan was doing, the Australian pop star replied: "She's great, a really brave girl."
