Get in line

BubbaAndBump · 17/10/2009 09:19

I think my husband loves Charlie Brooker too. But I guess that's for another thread??

PuppyMonkey · 17/10/2009 09:20

I did mean love in the spiritual sense... but then again....

I have a friend who TURNED HIM DOWN on a date. I am still very very cross with her about it....

needtomoveon · 17/10/2009 09:27

The man is a peach........god I loathe the Daily ShiteMail

edam · 17/10/2009 09:30

Bubba, my dh once freaked Booker out years ago when very few people knew who he was. Saw him, ran across the street, said 'are you Charlie Brooker' and the poor guy thought he was about to get thumped or something! Dh only wanted to tell him how much he enjoyed his work or something. Brooker looked VERY relieved when he explained!

BubbaAndBump · 17/10/2009 09:40

lol edam my DH would have done exactly the same!

Do love his reply to Jan Moir. No beating round the bush there.

VenusInfers · 17/10/2009 09:43

Thanks for the link PuppyMonkey, he's spot on as usual. Nowt like a gob of well directed bile in the face of a deserving target.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 17/10/2009 09:52

I have to say I was a bit "Meh" about Charlie Brooker till I read that article yesterday.

One of my freinds has always raved about him but I put that down to him being a walk run stumble-on zombie in Dead Set and therefore being biased.

Now I love him too

PuppyMonkey · 17/10/2009 11:02

We should get HIM on for a MN chat!

RamblingRosa · 17/10/2009 11:20

I love him too. I think his column(s) in the Guardian are brilliant. The telly bit in the Guide always makes me laugh. His article on Jan Moir's vile piece was brilliant.

southeastastra · 17/10/2009 11:37

that 'fine line' quote wasn't by him. i thought it was sounds like him.

squilly · 17/10/2009 11:54

Love him.

Have reported that woman to the press complaints people (thank you for the advice Charlie). It just shows the huge gulf between some journalists in terms of honest, integrity and ability.

Prunerz · 17/10/2009 12:51

I had a very rude dream about him once.
Sparked, I admit, by a thing on Popbitch about how he is hung like a horse.

Prunerz · 17/10/2009 12:52

But yes, he is fab. When Jade Goody died, he was by far the most insightful commentator on the whole sorry media mess. Compassionate towards her and utterly spot-on about the ravening hordes.

Tidey · 17/10/2009 12:55

He is marvellous. His books are very good too.

SCARYspicemonster · 17/10/2009 12:55

I soooo would. I keep hoping to bump into him but why I imagine he'd see me and immediately feel lust, I have no idea

wintera · 18/10/2009 16:05

Does anyone know how him and Aisleyne from Big Brother became friends? Seem like an odd couple to be matey!

edam · 19/10/2009 18:40

Love him even more now. What a brilliantly funny piece on a potentially v. dull but important story.

DorotheaPlentighoul · 19/10/2009 18:42

There are so many threads like this! MNHQ should def invite him -- although I suspect he would decline, terrified by our naked lust

edam · 19/10/2009 18:48

Great idea Dorothea, have contacted MN to plead! (And offered to drop by MN towers in case they need any help with leering making the tea...)

ByTheSea · 19/10/2009 18:51

DH and I both love him.

DorotheaPlentighoul · 19/10/2009 20:12

Go Edam!

edam · 19/10/2009 22:36

Ooh, Olivia emailed me and promised to add him on the list of potentials...
