Caught this on the news and strikes me as very odd and attention seeking.
Why would you go to another country, bond with a little boy, tell the whole world about it, without seemingly knowing how the hell to go about it or if it is even possible? Derr.....!

I don't think he knew what the laws were at the time -- many people think that adoption is an easy option and are shocked when they find out how difficult it is. Agree that it sounds as though David Furnish (who is only mid-40s) has wanted children for a while and that this little boy induced an episode of broodiness in Elton. Whether it was a transient thing or not time will tell.

I agree with those who said that there are so many children needing help and adoption in the UK or USA (not even sure where Elton lives these days!) that he really doesn't need to travel overseas to adopt a child.

I spend a bit of time over the summer as a missionary in Ukraine - it is a vast place, very interesting and the people are some of the nicest I've met..... except for the people who work in shops and cafes - they are VERY rude!!!!

Anyway, with all the money Elton has he could buy several villages and could afford to sustain lots of services there.

I do hope his bond with the young child is true and that he is serious about giving the child good care.

I suppose it'll also raise awareness about Ukraine as a country, as it seems to be a place that many people here in the UK don't know much about.
