I am saving mine until after DD's have gone to bed so I can read it while eating lovehearts and drinking wine Quattro.
Bliss.

Blackduck · 12/09/2009 18:06

The Barclays ad with the question:
you're no computer. You want a job thats's easy to pick up and won't drive you crazy. Me and a friend were at that one - surely they wouldn't get away with it now!!

IdrisTheDragon · 12/09/2009 21:57

I got DH to buy it earlier on and have been Reading it now. That issue was a little before me (hadn't quite made it into the world then) but I got jackie on the late 80s and early 90s.

Also found the adverts fascinating - so much about periods and jobs.

Am looking forward to Bunty on Tuesday

fifitot · 13/09/2009 20:26

I remember getting that issue first time round! Also amazed at the adverts.

The article about attracting boys......suggests standing with your mouth open and head down. Eh? Would make you look like an idiot!

Still loved it though.

seeker · 13/09/2009 20:46

Was nobody else dumbstruck by the words? SO hard to read!

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 14/09/2009 09:45

Seeker, they have reduced the size of the page to fit A4. The original Jackie was in a much larger format. I assume they have scanned it, so reduced to A4 size it is bound to be harder to read.
Either that are we had better eyesight then.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/09/2009 09:54

Yes, I'm sure it used to be a larger format. And the paper was different too - more like newsprint. They must have scanned the original - unless there's a secret warehouse somwhere containing thousands of authentic old Jackies.

I'm going to take my copy to work to share with other ladies of a certain age former David Essex fans. He's touring now, you know.

SlartyBartFast · 14/09/2009 09:57

A couple of nice maxi dresses for about £8 too.
The Barclays ad caught my eye too....was it something like £1,200 a year - and 3 weeks holiday?

Ninks · 14/09/2009 21:43

Bumping for people like me who didn't realise that Bunty is on offer tomorrow!

seeker · 15/09/2009 16:43

I am SO looking forward to reading Bunty this evening!

Has there been a June and SchoolFriend yet?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/09/2009 17:28

You know, I never had the Bunty. (And why was it always the Bunty, by the way?) I had Judy, then Diana and then progressed to Jackie, bypassing Bunty altogether.

Now waiting for dh, who always buys the papers ....

SlartyBartFast · 15/09/2009 22:08

dd3 > loves the Bunty

i dont think i read it.

did i miss anything on monday?
