Complete insanity, petitions against the head from people totally unrelated, press idiocy, sueing people - although I would like to see the outcome of the case if the mum does sue for distress - I think it would give a good indication of just how far along the "sue for anything you can" road we have come.

Candyfloss, you are free to tell your dd that not everyone is against what they decided to do and IMO they have shown themselves to be very sensible people capable of making thier own decisions. Others may disagree but that is my view!

candyflossfairycake · 15/09/2009 12:49

My DD has emailed a comment to the daily mail online news story today just waiting to see if they publish it. She thinks its time someone heard from the children but your right it has taught her not to believe everything she reads in the paper! Surely if these 5 parents are that unhappy they would have asked at the beginning that their children not be involved. % mins of fame springs to mind! There is only one left really who is like a pit bull with a bone and just won't give it up.

Peedoffwithnits (great name lol) I love the rare breeds farm its a fantastic place

piscesmoon · 15/09/2009 19:30

The parents who have had their 5 minutes of fame are a little misguided-when it has all dies down as yesterday's news, they still have to live in the community. Hopefully they will get around to explaining the link between sausages and pigs!

Hi Candy,

I'm a secondary school English teacher, & my year 9s have been doing a debating activity on this (it tied in rather neatly with their existing scheme of work).

Would you mind me quoting you?

I'm rather looking forward to giving them the Marcus/Market snippet, if that's OK, as part of our ongoing work on media bias.

(I'm a fellow veggie btw, & agree that this is a worthwhile project)

candyflossfairycake · 17/09/2009 12:31

Hi Raven

I am very happy for you to quote me as I do think this is a worth while cause. Let me know how the class gets on

Cheers Candy.

They all started off thinking it was 'bare tight' that Marcus got the chop but we're now split about 60/40 in favour of a reprieve.

Interestingly the name change made a HUGE difference, which surprised me - they're a fairly pragmatic Yorkshire bunch (quite a few farm children, only 2/27 vegetarians).

Anyway, they've all achieved excellent grades for their speeches pro & con, & my Head is v impressed with the unit of work, so poor old Market didn't die entirely in vain!

Hope things settle down at Lydd, & Ms Charman gets left in peace to get on with doing an excellent job.

pinkmagic1 · 17/09/2009 21:34

I havn't read the whole thread but think some people are being pathetic. This is a farm animal fgs and the head teacher is doing a fab job in teaching the children the whole process of where food comes from.
We keep chickens and my 2 have seen the whole process from slaughter to plate. They also recently helped pluck, gut and prepare wood pigeons my DH's friend shot. Some people have totally lost touch with where their food comes from.

Hi everyone here is a link to a petition to support our wonderful head Mrs Charman who has been the victim of media lies which has resulted in a world wide witch hunt to have her removed as head of our school. Mrs Charman had only been at the school since January and has already lifted it out of special measures and along with the rest of the teaching staff is improving our little school every day

Please show your support

Is that better?

PeedOffWithNits · 21/09/2009 13:43

cripes, I wonder what the headteacher will make of all those rogue apostrophes (see petition link), I lost count!

BUT, seriously, she has done no wrong, why should anyone be allowed to try to get her out of her job

WoTmania · 21/09/2009 13:48

POWN - Maybe it was written by a Green Grocer?
