My friend died of cancer three weeks ago aged 32. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago and got the all clear and then last year she developed cancer in the spine and then a brain tumour and died very suddenly - there was no history of cancer in the family either. It is a horrible disease and it can get you at any time.

Very sad about your friend Emily.

So sorry for everyone affected - Kylie too. It's a horrible disease with no discrimination.

Some dreadful stories here

The sister of a friend of mine died a couple of years ago, she was mid 30's and had three children under 5.

Have a look at this Breakthrough Breast Cancer Study and sign up if you feel able.

It's so sad, for Kylie and her family and all women and their families everywhere that go through the trauma of BC. I'm glad that Kylie caught it early.

Girls - go and check your boobs now, please. Go to the loo at work or do it this scond if you are at home.
get your DH';s/DP's to check tonight.
Then do it again next week and keep on checking.
Don't let naything happen to you.

same thoughts as you all. I have developed a really fun relationship with a women through my business (she's designed my posters, come to events that I run and we have a really good time) She had BC last year and has just found out it's in her bones (spine - she'd been suffering with backache for the past 6 months and nobody thought to investigate it) and now just found out that it's in her liver. She seems to like to talk to me about it as I'm not a close friend but do seem to have developed a real rapport with her. I'm fine when I'm talking with her but whenever I put the phone down my heart just breaks for her (she's same age as me 41 with two children of 11 and 9) wht can I do to support her. I get really angry when I hear all these stories then learn that they screen through mammograms in the US from 40 onwards (not 50) and know that it's all down to cost. More women than ever before are been diagnosed before 50 and it seems very aggresive...if any of you can help me with words of wisdom, advise or inputs I would really welcome them

I've requested a pack to be included in the study.

Scarey, scarey stories on here. You just don't know what's round the corner.

charleepeters · 18/05/2005 20:29

just wanted to say how sorry i am for kylie, and how brave she is sharing her story with the world especially with her status as a role model for many women, she has always struck me as a strong women and im sure she is strong enough to get through this xxxx

Poor Kylie - at least they seem to have caught it early. Something like this shows it's so important to live for the day and cherish your loved ones.

charleepeters · 18/05/2005 20:38
