CBeebies hates stay at home mums?

Ok, it's the Daily Fail but still. I think maybe she ought to turn the TV off...or switch over to Milkshake - both Peppa and The Little Princess are cared for by their parents! Are SAHMs undermined by fictional children being looked after at nursery?

And I don't even know where to start with this quote: "Is it any wonder the escalation in anti-social behaviour over the past 30 years has coincided with the rise in children being nurtured - or not - by strangers?" She's feeling undermined by not being represented on childrens' tv, and then she throws this staggeringly provocative statement in, telling us that working mums and nursery care are responsible for the increase in anti-social behaviour.

It's not really worth reading. Why are people paid to write these things? And why do I read them?

She seems to have missed the point that Granny Murray isnt just a childminder, but Dog-sitter too, its a real worry if the numer of AIBU posts about childminders/dogs there have been is anything to go by

Both Balamory and Timmy Time are about pre-school children, so no-one is 'abandoning thier babies'

dollius · 26/06/2009 09:48

Yes but Frasersmum, Laura wouldn't send her son to something as common as pre-school dontchaknow.

He has Latin instruction in the playroom from Laura herself of course.

Frasersmum123 · 26/06/2009 10:05

Silly me - it must be the fact that I wasnt brought up by a SAHM that has addled my brain!

burningupinspeed · 26/06/2009 10:09

Does she want a programme that features a baby at home with it's mum, er, watching TV then? So she feels represented? Sounds great.

Frasersmum123 · 26/06/2009 10:11

Look at Horrid Henry. Im pretty sure his Mum is a SAHM and look how he turned out!

Now I want to read this article!
we all know only SAHMs (like myself) are watching Cbeebies with their kids.
So maybe she is asking; why does Cbeebies show nursery children to SAHMs? Who is paying them, to brainwash us, to get us all back to work. Is the government sto desperate to get us all out to work rather than wait till our kids are 3 years old or so!?

Wonderstuff · 26/06/2009 21:59

I know some pretty anti-social kids with SAHM and SAHD's. Has any research actually been done about the upbringing of delinquents? Because this 'working mothers responsible for the fall of society' argument gets trotted out by the DM quite often.... I do worry about Charlie and Lola though, they seem to be bringing themselves up, I mean you hear them speak about mum and dad but are they just so desperate they have started imagining their parents?

TheCrackFox · 26/06/2009 23:56

"She seems to have missed the point that Granny Murray isnt just a childminder, but Dog-sitter too....."

She has also missed the point that she is a modern day philosopher.

morocco · 27/06/2009 00:13

granny murray is plainly disturbed and the only people who would leave their children in her care are equally insane. very worrying use of taxpayers money. someone call social services to the lot of them

choppychopster · 27/06/2009 00:32

CrackFox - have just spat wine all over laptop rofling at granny Murray "modern day philosopher".

Time for bed I think....

funtimewincies · 27/06/2009 19:29

...and that teacher in Me Too (can't remember his name) would have survived his first Ofsted. No lesson planning and only doing basic 2-D shapes with a class of 8 year olds .

BodleianBabe · 06/01/2011 23:55

Interesting update on the sanctimonious Ms Kemp

Here

I maybe a WOHM who sent her sons to one of those evil nurserys (no sign of any ASBO behaviour either despite now being 6 and 10) here but even I would know that taking a three year old shopping and to a restaurant is not a treat for the child and is likely to end in disaster!! Interesting she calls it 'Mummy Time' because it truly is isn't it?? It's what Mummy wants to do not what three year old does and then she's surprised when he loses the plot.

BodleianBabe · 07/01/2011 17:44

Bump

arcticwind · 07/01/2011 18:35

What a sanctimonious twat she is Angry

My dcs are by no means perfect but I would never have got so cross about a tantrum from a 3 year old boy about wearing his coat and putting on his hat FGS!

That poor boy - and why could she not smile in the photograph

Scootergrrrl · 07/01/2011 18:42

She wants to find him a nice nursery - have some lovely peace and quiet to write more bizarre pseudo-parenting articles!

SylvanianFamily · 07/01/2011 20:23

barnaby bear's little pal has a closely involved father iirc (another attack on sahM, of course).

Charlie and lola's parents are distant to the point of invisible - cementing the view of parents as irrelevant to our preschoolers lives.

Teletubbies have obviously been abandoned in a cellar to gorge on fatty snacks and fizzy drinks, explaining their bloated physique.

And mr maker brought the conspiracy to a natural conclusion by just ditching the children all together (maybe he's teletubbies' neglectful dad... Now I think about it....)
