Thieving MPs' expenses totally censored

Has anyone looked?

mpsallowances.parliament.uk/mpslordsandoffices/hocallowances/allowances-by-mp/

The dirty thieving bastards have censored nearly everything. Apparently we aren't to know where our elected representatives live. And that includes knowing even the town, although one rather hopes it is somewhere in the constituency they supposedly represent. Or the shop they bought it from. Or even the brand of washing machine they selected.

Crooks.

peachy, if your MP is refusing to assist constituents in general, rather than just telling one person 'in your situation there is nothing useful I can do' there is now a way of getting them into trouble. I think it was the parliamentary ombudsman who ruled against one crap MP earlier this year and insisted they pay compensation. Might be worth a google...

MrsJamin · 19/06/2009 14:04

It's frustrating, just saw one where they claimed £70 for 'other' and the description was blacked out. What's the point?!

Peachy · 19/06/2009 14:04

It was the Lib Dem AM who told me he has a policy of no case work, Edam. Might mention to her when I see her, thanks.

edam · 19/06/2009 14:06

oh look, poor old Nadine Dorries is whingeing again Not content with pissing everyone off by moaning that MPs were being driven to suicide...

MrsJamin · 19/06/2009 14:28

Just came across Jacqui Smith's £200 per month cleaning expense, so cheeky. Supposedly it was a scandal that this was £200 for several years, i.e. not increased, but what was she doing putting her cleaning down anyway?

Peachy · 19/06/2009 14:31

With a hubby as dirty as Jacqui Smiths you'd want a cleaner

Sorry, I do apologise.

Lots out cleaners down don't they? Dusters too good for them?

bleh · 19/06/2009 14:48

Damn. I have to say, I am slightly disappointed that my MP has not been up to anything scandalous. Just buying office supplies from Rymans and using his BT phone. I suppose it is a Good Thing, but I so wanted to be outraged at him having an ornamental duck pond.

FAQinglovely · 19/06/2009 14:52

bleh - I thought the same thing - all I could find was a rather higher "food" claim each month - but then DH and I put that down to buying lots of ready meals and takeaways after longs hours in the commons LOL.

clam · 19/06/2009 15:02

Well, never mind, Nadine. You can always stick in a claim for replacing them. Oh, plus an insurance claim. Might even make a nice profit.

Although to be serious, I do think it's shocking that someone went to those lengths. Bt then it does show the depth of anger that the public feels about this whole expenses thing. Which MPs Just. Don't. Get.

dinasaw · 19/06/2009 17:36

My Conservative MP claims for fees he has paid to the local Conservative Association. Ok, I understand if he is using it for officework etc, but he has also claimed for £125 every 3 months for an exclusive parking space at the Conservative Association. DH works int eh same town and says it's a free car park and anyone can park there.

Wella s he is a Consewrvative I think you should definitely e-mail the telegraph.

it'd be OK if he were LibDem or labour ob

(Obviously not OK never but I always look first for the party when seeing new 'Revelations'- shameful I know)
