Should Madonna be allowed to adopt another Malawian child?

This little girl has a father who is trying to stop the adoption, and Madonna has launched an appeal in Malawi.

Is there something a bit weird about her motives perhaps? I commend her for wanting to help people in Africa - but couldn't she help by something a bit more constructive. Paying for a fresh water well in a rural village for example!

Taking children away from their country and culture strikes me as misguided, and about 200 years out of date. What do other people think?

I've no doubt in my mind that given the choice of being adopted by Madonna or staying in care, the first choice is the one I would choose for any child.

"We became a family - beats "culture" any day"

Exactly!

That father only showed up when a rich foreign celebrity was interested in his child.

madonna may be a fruit cake, but I bet Rocco, Lourdes and David have a better life and a better future ahead of them than Mercy does. I bet her father has disappeared back into the dust now Madonna and her money have gone.
