they too can marry a very important man?

I mean she's not there in her capacity as a lawyer, rather as a First Leady and surely that is not really a valid role to aspire to in itself????

I'm very against poor quality childcare! And I'm very against the failure of many so-called developed societies to support mothers when their children are small. And I am very pro women's intellectual and financial independence! And those things are often hard to reconcile...

Well indeed.

Just a pity it is just about always the woman not the man sacrificing the career though isn't it? At least Ms Booth didn't do that - she continued to work and that was a great example to women - that you can have large families and work full time. I accept that being president is more like being the Queen so harder for the spouse to work but I certainly don't see her as a godo role model. The model is - look pretty, be clever, put out and you too can take on a supportive clothes horse role as help meet in submissive fashion to a powerful man. Not - do all that and you too can be President if you're female. Only - you can marry the president.

Xenia, did Hilary Clinton seeking the Democrat nomination for President escape you?

MO doesn't look very submissive to me. It is ludicrous to suggest that she is "a supportive clothes horse role as help meet in submissive fashion to a powerful man".

How about Anne Lauvergeon? Do you think she is a good role model for women?
