Given Obama's speech, it's got propaganda written all over it, but nevertheless, if true it is bloody shocking.

I read about this in the Guardian early this week...it smacks of trying to buy voters imo...

It is so hard to believe that a woman in the UK and a woman in Afghanistan can have such different expectations and rights. All I can say is thank god I live in a country where I can have so much choice and control over my life. I suppose it is relatively recent history that women here had so much more freedom (I'd hesitate to say equality because I'm not sure we do), but for me personally I feel that I must make sure my daughter appreciates that this kind of freedom had to be fought for.
