PLEASE HELP MARNIE PEARCE!!!

PLEASE please sign the petition, which has been signed by Amnesty and which will be taken to the UAE Embassy in London, calling for the immediate release of Marnie from prison in Dubai and for the deportation order to be lifted so that Marnie can be near her children - and encourage all those you know to sign!

www.thepetitionsite.com/14/freedom-for-marnie-pearce

Marnie is currently unfairly imprisoned in Dubai on charges of adultery after being framed by her Egyptian ex-husband so that he could gain sole custody of their children, ages 4 and 7. Her ex-husband has now been awarded full custody as under Shariah law a woman automatically loses custody of her children if she is found guilty of adultery, as she is deemed to be an unfit mother... Marnie is set to be deported from Dubai to the UK without her children after completing her sentence in a month's time and faces not seeing her boys again until they are legally able to find her at the age of 18.

The British government has done virtually nothing to help Marnie and we now also need to put pressure on the Foreign Secretary to do the right thing and intervene in this situation on behalf of Marnie and her children!

Please email the Foreign Secretary David Miliband and ask him to sort out this situation!

His email address is [email protected]

Thanks!

Wannabe you might be right about the petition, but people have also been asked to write to their MP's.

As for the website not been undated, as far as I;m aware the people who built it haven;t done anything like this before, so they are learning on the go as it were. Might be wrong, but that's the impression I got.

And building awaresness of Marnie - and all the other women who are (and will be) in s imilar situation is all for the better

JUST HEARD SHE IS TO BE RELEASED TMW.

Comewhinewithme · 05/05/2009 13:35

Just seen the video of her saying goodbye to her ds's '

Heartbreaking.

Crackopenthebaileys · 05/05/2009 14:02

That just broke my heart. unbelieveable.... how could he take their mummy away from them?

Great that she will be released, but what about the children? Any news there?

So so sad and cruel. What sort of father could do that to his little boys. That poor woman, what a hellish predicament she is in.

It was bad enough that she has had to serve a prison sentence, but to be separated from her sons is so unjust it defies belief.

I've signed the petition and posted before on this case but really feel the need to do more to help. It was truly heartbreaking to see that video of her children being taken away.

Comewhinewithme · 05/05/2009 14:43

It made me cry .I don't even want to imagine how I would feel .

Poor woman and poor boys .

according to the Sunday papers she has not seen her children since being freed.

Now that she is free I imagine there isn't much anyone else can do for her, her only hope is to get a decent lawyer to help fight her custody case or at least secure her visitation rights.

No post since the news?

I would dealrly love to get to the bottom of why some people have no pity for a woman who, if they faced the same situation, would be begging for help.

Hi Ballina, if you are referring to after the ITN news coverage yesterday, there is a new thread re this in 'Am I being unreasonable'.
