Apparently her husband got "an ear-bashing"

OP posts:

Maybe JS ordered the films. I can't think whats worse, PAYING for JS's mastabating session or her husbands wank.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 30/03/2009 10:37

Interesting stats RubyRuby. Where do they come from?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 30/03/2009 10:41

I'm quite annoyed that its fine for her to claim for 2 widescreen TVs and 2 digital set top boxes for her second home.

Why the hell can't she just make do with one digital set top box.

Oh, probably 'cos her hubby's wanking upstairs over the adult channel.

beanieb · 30/03/2009 10:49

Well, when they do publish all MPs? expenses claims from the last 5 years I'm sure there'll be lots of intersting information about all parties, including the tories!

beanieb · 30/03/2009 10:50

maybe it was their 13 year old son

TheCrackFox · 30/03/2009 10:50

As a tax payer I do not mind paying for the NHS, DCs to be educated the welfare state blah, blah, blah. However, paying for Jaqui Smiths DH to have a wank is beyond parody.

She presumably signed her expense claim. Does she never check it? She doesn't exactly have an eye for detail.

She gets paid enough to pay for her own jizz films, bath plugs, sisters house, TVs etc.

Yet another pig with her snout in the trough.

Oh and she has done fuck all for women. Apart from making us look like idiots that cannot be trusted in high office. Thanks for nothing.

FAQinglovely · 30/03/2009 10:52

all that money to "claim" and she' only gets Hotpoint appliances - god she's madder than I thought

QuantitativeMeasure · 30/03/2009 10:53

She is a Parasite.

muffle · 30/03/2009 10:59

I'm self-employed and have to claim tax back for things like broadband costs etc.

Never in a million years would I think of, or would I imagine my accountant to agree to, claiming for watching a film or getting a new bathplug - and on top of that I wouldn't have time to keep track of all these petty claims, and I'm not home secretary!

It really makes me think these people have no clue about how this all makes them look. As for the wank film - sorry but that is just asking to be hauled through the tabloids and in this instance I think they totally deserve it.

I think she will end up having to go, like so many others. Why the hell is it so hard to find a home secretary who isn't an incompetent twerp, fascist bigot or on the take?

policywonk · 30/03/2009 11:00

I don't agree that JS has done fuck all for women. She's pushing hard for stricter regulations of sex/lapdancing clubs, and for criminalising men who buy sex rather than the women who sell it. She's also proposed some good legislation to protect trafficked women. She has some very sound feminist principles IMO.

Shame she's so thoroughly dishonest in other areas. And as for her husband... jeez.

TheCrackFox · 30/03/2009 11:01

"Why the hell is it so hard to find a home secretary who isn't an incompetent twerp, fascist bigot or on the take?"

Snort.

Maybe this could be one of the set questions in the next GCSE politics exam?

ABetaDad · 30/03/2009 11:03

The thing that strikes me about this whole episode is that it really underlines why our civil liberties are so important.

I do not want the Govt or any one else systematically tracking what I do online, what I pay for on my credit card, who I phone, who I email or where I go every waking hour of my life. I do not want my kids on a database, I do not want my DNA stored on a database, I do not want an ID card database.

I want my fredom and my liberty to do things that are legal without someone watching all the time and pasisng my data around.

The fact that all this actually legal and legitimate private matter is being aired in public or even came into the public domain at all is surely a salutory lesson as to why everyone has a right to privacy.

Perhaps now Jacqui Smith will understand what privacy and civil liberty is important and I actually hope someone in Govt is reading this post for once!

georgiemum · 30/03/2009 11:03

It is the best laugh I have had in a long time (am quite down at the moment so thanks Jaquie).

TheCrackFox · 30/03/2009 11:05

Maybe Jacqui could set up a wanking database? She loves her databases, she does.

Lizzylou · 30/03/2009 11:06

FAQ, that's what I thought, how cheap was the dining table? I'd have gone for a better quality of white goods if I was swindling claiming on expenses.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/03/2009 11:06

Ruby, interesting post....where are those stats from?

I agree with Helsbells....all politicians are corrupt.....

I think this whole Porn thing is just the tip of the iceberg....it is utterly ridiculous what these people, and possibly many other politicians have claimed as expenses, when they get paid well enough....

muffle · 30/03/2009 11:07

But abetadad - she and her daft husband put it in the public domain by claiming tax for it! They had a full right to privacy re their wank film habits, before that happened.

There is a possibility he's falling on his sword for the sake of an errant teen - that would be noble. Still can't see how it ended up getting claimed for though...

ruddynorah · 30/03/2009 11:08

i don't really get this second home nonsense.

i know i'm being simplistic here but why not build a block of one bed flats for them all in westminster then it's upto them to sort their 'main' residence like any normal person. never mind this nonsense of being able to claim stupid money for a sink. fgs.

TheCrackFox · 30/03/2009 11:09

It doesn't really matter who was doing the wanking. Him, her or errant teen you just don't ask the tax payer to pay for it.

ABetaDad · 30/03/2009 11:16

muffle - I agree.

However, to be fair, the info and the claim was put in the public domain in error and I just hope the sense of privacy strikes a chord.

It illustrates how easily private information can inadvertently get into the public domain or into the wrong hands and how that can do damage.

muffle · 30/03/2009 11:24

I know we don't know how this happened, but it sounds to me very much like they just chuck anything and everything into the "claims" pile and forgot to edit it. That may be a mistake, but it's a mistake that shows just how much they can get away with normally, and what ridiculous amounts of stuff they can claim for.

marmitebabe · 30/03/2009 13:27

I reckon there are 3 possibilities - either a) Mr Jacqui Smith is not getting any rumpy so had to resort to films to get off b) JS herself is sad enough to have watched them and got her DH to take the wrap or c) they watched them together because they are both sad and then he took the wrap.

Personally I don't like any of the options and I certainly don't want to pay for them.

So there.

Sorrento · 30/03/2009 14:11

And their answer to solving this little problem ? Give us a huge pay rise so we don't have to bother you the general public with little matters like what we spend your taxes on.

Being an MP should pay the average salary, it should be done as a vocation like nursing or teaching not an opportunity to set one self up for life whilst sticking your nose in the trough for 4 years.

Do we really trust this woman with out borders and immigration ?

Rhubarb · 30/03/2009 14:17

We are going through a recession and I have no confidence that the government will get us out of it. Because it's not affecting them. They've long forgotten that we, the struggling families, exist. So how can we trust them to fight our corner when they are happily using our money to pay for second homes, meals out, hotel rooms, porn films and plugs?
