Are there new rules now on mn that say that you can only post certain questions

nah, 2shoes you can of course do what you want but not everyone likes or agrees with it.
I think it has nowt to do with Jade or at least v little to do with it being Jade and more to do with it being cancer and Mother's Day and the death of a young mother.

Too emotive for most for the gallows humour or nest of vipers we usually celebrate.
Interesting to see the Private Eye cover this week though

It's an interesting point about why people feel the need to say something about the public drivelling on about Jade. From my point of view, it's fascinating. For a start, it seems quite a modern phenomenon. Its also something only women seem to go in for. And it seems very easily manipulated. Max Clifford's campaign has been very effective. Don't people feel manipulated? And doesn't that annoy them?

Do I feel manipulated? No. Jade Goody as a 'brand' (for want of a better word) was created by the media which in turn is created by society. Jade herself was also created by society - as we all are. Her background was not her fault. She herself was very aware of her shortcomings - how could she not be - they were rammed down her throat by the said media.

I admired her for making herself so successful by playing the media. She was an intelligent girl. Very canny. Uneducated, yes - again a product of her background/society. But she knew it. When she opened her beauty salon she said it was because she thought the fame wouldn't last and she wanted a career to fall back on. She wasn't stupid by any means.

I am not grieving though. I did not know her. I feel very sad though. As sad as I would hearing of the death of any 27 year old - esp one leaving 2 little boys.
