Did anyone see The Sun yesterday and the article relating to childminders and nannies beating the kids in their care up?

Anyone had any experiences of this? What to look for, questions to ask etc?

Did anyone see the programme Who's looking after your child? It was so scary, I think I will send my child to a nursery rather than have a childminder or nanny as there will be others around

Another mumsnetter had trouble (serious ones) with her nanny - and she came with good recommendations... unfortunately the police was unable to bring charges so she "still" does not have a record!

There was a TV programme in France that talked about shaken baby syndrom because a Paris hospital specialises in dealing with babies that suffer from it (I think it was something like 2 new cases a week!)... and according to the social worker the guilty party is either a parent or a carer (nanny or childminder) but in her experience it had never been a nursery as staff are able to take over from each other.
