Jamie oliver and Jools

Just seen AOL news that friends of Jamie Oliver and Jools say there marriage may be in trouble.
I am not sure where I stand on this.On the one hand Jools has a celeb lifestyle,plenty of money,family and friends for support,not sure if she has a nanny?
More than the average mum who has a husband who has to work away for fianancial reasons and does'nt get to see his kids most nights.Also Jamie on his school dinners programme was saying his children would be going to private school.Jools can't have it both ways,she should support him in what he is trying to do.
On the other hand it nust be difficult with the press always speculating about their marriage,it's as if they want to find some dirt on this what seems like a perfect marriage from the outside.
What does anyone think?

i can understand how she feels, dh always working, 2 girls very close in age. she used to be a girl with lots of parties to go to, loads of free time both her and jamie, and it doesnt matter how much money you have, time with your family is more important than any material thing. he has things that appear to others (and jools?) to be more important to him, like school dinner campaigns

i hope they can work it out, if it is true

i certainly wouldnt swap with them, no way on earth. couldnt handle all that media attention

She should stick it out, she knew what sort of man she was marrying, let her have her trantrum and let the press speculate, what will be wil be..god bless jamie oliver..

he has changed loads since they got married though hasnt he? seems to be doing 3x as much work as he used to. as i say, i know how she feels

no amount of money can compensate for a partner who is never there.She is a young mum of two small kids just like any other Agree these so called friends are despicable

does she qualify as a married lone parent or does JO's money and profile make it OK for him to disappear for 6-8 weeks to film in Italy ?

She's not the only person married to a man who is never there and whilst money is no compensation it certainly makes a difference......my sil always moans about the hours my bil does, but its those hours that give her the lifestyle she wants.....can't always have it both ways...

It must be hard for her emotionally and psychologically if he's away all the time. I never realise what a goldmine I have in my hubby until he's not there to share the stress that a child brings. On the other hand she can afford to employ a nanny etc if she needs to but it's not the same as your partner. I hope these rumours are just that - rumours and that if not they can overcome the problems they have.

I agree with you mothernature,she should be proud of what he is trying to achieve.

Nailpolish,not sure who these friends were that said this but they always seemed to be surrounded b a lot of friends when Jamie was filmimg the naked chef series.Maybe it's jealousy on their part.I agree that time with your family is more imprtant than material things.He must have earnt
a fair whack by now and could probably afford in the future to retire early or cut down his commitments to spend more time with his family.Although I feel cooking is in his blood and he just loves it so may want to continue what he is doing for as long as poossible.

on the naked chef i got the impression these people were just hangers on, bet they have other true friends who cant be bothered to be in the limelight.

i thought maybe you meant friends such as liam and nicole or other equal twits

Hey, you gotta pay to play. S/where down the line, s/one has to go to work to pay for that house and lifestyle. Most self-made folks don't get rich by sitting around. Every self-made person I've known has worked his/her a* off for it and earned every penny.

my dh thinks 'work work work' but last year his parents took early retirement. they had worked their balls off, never giving time to their sons inc my dh. he had a crap childhood

one mth after they retired his mum died of liver cancer and his dad had an MI, he now is shadow of his former self with a pacemaker and a cabinet full of drugs. gave my dh a fright, and made him think

we all should live for today and not be so 'i want i want' about material things

not that im saying any of you are, but is jamie? nice house? be nice if he saw it a bit more

Yes, the friends on the naked chef did look a bit staged and set up.

I don't think wer are being horrid talking about this ,it's just i am sure a lot of us on mumsnet can relate to a certain extent how she is feeling.

Did Jools used to be a model?
Maybe she is feeling a bit left out as Jamie grabs all the limelight.

She did seem a bit overwrought on the school dinners programme when a story one of the papers was trying to publish about some girl in another country where Jamie was working.Sorry to be vague ,can't remember all the details,but nothing more was said.

As someone said,why does'nt she and the children go with him?

money isn't everything He could certainly afford to cut down his work as he is missing out on his children but maybe he puts work 1st Don't envy them at all though all the speculation must drive them mad

Maybe she is on Mumsnet. I hope she is getting plenty of support from somewhere. Lots of people have their partners work long hours/away from home but they don't have zoom lenses trained on their front door or tabloid journalists egging acquaintances on to talk to the press. I thought they met pretty much at school, long before his media profile became an issue. So I'm not sure she did sign up for the huge circus their life has become.
I feel fairly sorry for them both, tbh. He has achieved a real breakthrough on attitudes to children's diet with School Dinners but it's come at a high cost. I hope they can sort things out.
