It's going to look a bit crap isn't it?

Ponders · 10/02/2009 19:13

Well the artist's impression thing looks ridiculous. There was a comment on the news that it looks like a Barbie horse

Why a horse? I could understand a white horse if it was in Wiltshire (where there are loads in chalk).

Why in Kent??

DisasterArea · 10/02/2009 19:38

hmmm interesting.... dp you think they'll let local small girls put ribbons in it's mane and have a sit on it?

Threadworm · 10/02/2009 19:39

Tee hee. We've got a real proper Angel that everyone loves and you are getting My Little Big Pony.

MollieO · 10/02/2009 19:41

I wonder if it is going to have a massive pile of poo to go with it!

ContainsWildPerilousLuurve · 10/02/2009 19:43

It looks a bit too realistic really - yes like a Barbie Horse. A more stylised version might work better IMO.

nancy75 · 10/02/2009 21:18

i had to check today wasn't april fools day when i saw this on the news, what are they thinking?

fattiemumma · 10/02/2009 21:19

i can just see a load of Mare's going over to try and seduce it

fryalot · 10/02/2009 21:20

blardy southerners.

Can't bear to see us have anything!!!

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 10/02/2009 21:20

but horses arent realy that big? Angels can be huge though

squeaver · 10/02/2009 21:21

Well, why an angel in the North?

It's art ffs.

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 10/02/2009 21:24

because were all so angelic up noorth

Im sure the horsey will look very nice

Ponders · 10/02/2009 22:05

"Well, why an angel in the North?"

Well, yes, but at least that one is an angel (if a bit geometric), not a bleeding horse

It's really surprising how everyone likes the Angel of the North. Most innovative public art is hated.

I love passing it on A1. It looks fantastic.

Ponders · 10/02/2009 22:09

I love it too, threadie. The proportions are a bit odd, but it's stunning when you see it on that crest.

The barbie horse though - naaah.

I heard it doesn't have planning permission yet.

fryalot · 10/02/2009 22:11

we were chatting about the angel of the north in rl the other day... the general consensus seemed to be that those who had actually seen it (in the flesh, so to speak) loved it, those that had seen images of it on the telly or in papers hated it.

I love it (and yes, I've seen it)

Threadworm · 10/02/2009 22:13

It works very well in the setting. Somehow you can't tell whether it is small and close up or big and far away.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 10/02/2009 22:13

I wonder if it'll be that way with this one. Angel of the North is stunning, the structure, the shape of it, the colour of it.

This just looks like a giant Barbie horse.

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 10/02/2009 22:14

I didnt like it at first but now i have seen and passed it oodles of time in RL i love it - its huge obviously and if heading home from Scotland or somewhere further up north than home i know im only about half an hr away from home and it makes me feel all warm inside! Also if its boiling hot i know we can pull off at the turn off for it and there is always an ice cream van parked near it

CreativeZen · 10/02/2009 22:14

Obviously none of you lives in Kent. The sign for Kent is the Invicta which is a white horse. Ergo....

Ponders · 10/02/2009 22:16

Yes, but is it a giant Barbie horse, CZ?

OP posts:
Ponders · 10/02/2009 22:17

And is the Invicta an angel?
