I had an interview yesterday with my new employee. He had the nerve to describe his wife to me as "behind every great man is a great woman."

I replied "Well, both my husband and I work, so I am not sure who is behind who?"

What I should have said was "And behind every ordinary man is what exactly?"

Do you think? I was so taken aback I wasn't quite sure what to think. Mind you, I work in a specialised field, and this guy is well known for being quite good. The fact that he is a fundamentalist muslim and doesn't believe women should work had to be put to one side....

So I kind of knew he would say something like this eventually.

Having said that, the initial meeting was a bit of a surprise.
