Babysitter Suzanne Holdsworth cleared

"Ms Holdsworth, a former supermarket worker who spent three years in prison, was then asked if she had thought the day would ever come when she would be proven innocent. After bursting into tears and putting her head into her partner's chest, she replied: "No, I thought I would be in there for ever."During the re-trial the jury was given the stark choice of deciding whether Ms Holdsworth or Kyle's mother, Clare Fisher, 24, caused the severe head injuries."

--------

That case and the Keran Henderson story made me think that if I was a childminder I would think twice about taking on any child with health problems. It seemed that, in both cases, it was just assumed that a terrible crime had been committed and that the effects were seen immediately, effectively reversing the burden of proof - the carers had no way of proving their innocence.

I am sorry for your loss fishcake. I don't know the case very well but have a2 children with disabilities themselves and they do sustain injuries as a result of that (one has a black eye atm) despite constant supervision.

I hope that everybody who has suffered as a result of this case can now mve forwards and the little lad put to rest.

Thats it, people are quick to cast judgement looking at what they see however they dont know the underlining story and for people to cast blame against someone when they dont know the full story is unfair.

I just want my little boy memory to live on and for him to be able to finally, after 4 years, to lay and rest x

Clarissimo · 07/01/2009 16:51

I hope that happens now for you, its not a lot to ask is it?

People do judge, we're often told off if one of the boys gets aggressive or has a bruise by people who don't know the situation. They think they're being helpful; they have no idea do they?

Fishcake1234 · 07/01/2009 17:09

They dont have any idea, dont get me wrong in some cases there is reason to worry and there is cause for concern, but in other cases i.e ours there isnt but people dont get the chance cos full stories are never heard before judgement is cast

I dont get what ya mean by the last bit, do what ?

I dont mind people knowing who I am cos I have nothing to hide x

LESLEY191 · 29/01/2009 11:37

HI I AM SUZANNE HOLDSWORTH ELDEST DAUGHTER LESLEY AND ITS NICE TO SEE PEOPLE TAKIN AN INTEREST IN THE CASE, I JUST THINK THATS ITS TIME FOR PEOPLE TO STOP LOOKIN AT WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME ROUND AND START CONCENTRATING ON HOW KYLE DID REALLY DIE AND START TO REINVESTIGATE THE WHOLE THING, AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT LOOK AT OTHER CASES WHERE POEPLE HAVE OR ARE STILL IN PRISON FOR THINGS THEY HAVENT DOEN ITS SO EASY TO SIT AND JUDGE PEOPLE WHO WE DONT KNOW AND POINT THE FINGER. MAYBE IF EVERYONE HAD A OPEN MIND FIRST TIME ROUND THEN MY MOTHER WOULD NEVER HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH EVER THING SHE DID BUT THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT I KNOW SHE WOULD APPERECIATE IT .

We should remember these cases everytime they call to bring back capital punishment.
