Mattel given control of Bratz dolls

It's not definite that they'll be withdrawn as the ruling stop manufacture won't start until 11th February at the earliest.
I guess MGA will continue to fight it.

Fingers crossed that they'll be gone before on DD's radar. DH and I hate them with a passion - they're such tarts!

ramonaquimby · 06/12/2008 23:58

but won't mattel just produce them 'inhouse'? I don't think they'd just stop production of them, they DO sell

nofunanymore · 07/12/2008 00:08

Hopefully not:

"If the order puts MGA out of business, Mattel would be rid of its primary fashion doll rival. The Bratz were seen as grabbing more and more sales from Mattel's signature Barbie line."

I'd be glad to see the back of them. They're awful! My family can't see the problem with them and get upset that I call them Slutz dolls. It's not a body image I want my daughter to grow up with!

I don't give a flying fuck about Bratz dolls. I'm a feminist and have a pretty formidable intellect - and yet regard them as an essentially harmless, innocuous bit of plastic that my dd will grow out of on her journey to becoming a brain surgeon .

Lighten up. It doesn't matter one iota

LilyMayPlumpington · 07/12/2008 00:35

I think the whole Bratz thing = my daughter will not reach her full potential and will get a Saturday job in Spearmint Rhino is so simplistic. Any sensible, together sort of girl will suss it out for herself soon enough

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 07/12/2008 12:28

It's not about reaching their full potential or any such rubbish. It's about normalising things I don't want normalising in a child. My niece (7) wears a lot of Bratz clothes that I wouldn't be happy to see a teenager in. I don't think it's a good body image for a little girl to grow up with.
