FAITH AND HOPE

The operation to separate them is taking place now after some concerns.

Please lets all think of them and hope for the best.

It has brought tears to my eyes and my heart was in my mouth when they said they had breaking news.

So you would have let them both die MMJ? That was the alternative.

Good for you.

Hope Faith makes it.

morningpaper · 03/12/2008 12:29

hard to say though isn't it MMJ when it is your own child?

RATIONALLY we'd let a lot of premature babies die but when it is your own child you feel very differently surely?

Ah, I see. Now that is a tough one.

I suppose it depends on how early in the pregnancy they discovered the conjoined nature and their views on abortion.

I don't know what I would have done. Seen early enough I may have aborted. Not sure. I am less clear on these things than when I was younger and blissfully child free sure of my views.

They found out at the 12 week scan.

When there is a chance, you have to take it ime.

I could never have terminated the pregnancy though, partly because I feel it ould send a message to the ds's that I wldn't have had them if I had known they had SN (Although obv their sn very mch different) but then I had ds4 knowing there is an 80% chance of him having some level of special needs because of the asd link (though he seems clear so far)

I think it depends on how much information they had though and when it became available to them.

After all there's a difference between having babies that are joined at the liver, an organ which can regenerate, with a good chance of survival after separation, and babies that are joined at the liver, the intestines both with congenital heart defects which might already put their lives at risk even before they are separated...

It sounds from the news reports as if the chances of faith surviving are very remote "Prof Pierro also confirmed that Faith could face more surgery if she continues her recovery, although he could not forecast when it would happen."

I imagine that such details as serious heart defects wouldn't have become apparent until at least 20 weeks, by which time a termination would be very traumatic as it would have had to occur by csection due to the fact the twins were conjoined.

Very sad situation all round.

BouncingTinsel · 03/12/2008 18:16

for Hope.

Love to little Faith, hope she pulls through, bad enough her parents have had their hearts broken once, let's pray that they don't get broken again.

thenewme · 03/12/2008 19:29

Faith has a 50-50 chance.

I hope she makes it.
