illegal food colouring -foods contaminated

On the FSA website theres a list of foods that are being withdrwan cos of a potentially cancer causing dye having been put in them accidently. Scary stuff

Just been told this stuff was legal until 2003. So can't be too bad!

The only thing I had was Asda seafood sauce. Although it's not the one on the list it's going in the bin anyway as it's use by date was Aug 2004!

Some confused questions:

  1. Does worcester sauce actually appear in the ingredients list in all the above products ? (Is that the common link, or is it the coloured chile powder that went into the worcester sauce that is the culprit ?)

  2. If it does, are the constituents of worcester sauce broken down (vinegar, sugar, shoe polish etc.) ? (Just contemplating how much info we do / don't get about this sort of thing).

Thanks for any clarification.
