today's topical G2 article . Do you think AmericanAngle is secretly this woman?

It's no wonder she's got a bit of a weird opinion of motherhood from what she says about her own mother, but she seems to feel that as she has now "engaged with the topic" () in writing her book she is fully qualified to pontificate. What people without children never seem to quite grasp is that those of us who have children have also been child-free, so whereas they have only experienced one side, we have seen both. This whole conspiracy of silence business is just twaddle IM(not very)HO.

Uwila · 18/02/2005 15:09

There are some topics that are better discussed with your mates than with your children. And people who can't see that (for the sake of the children)... well... perhaps they shouldn't have children.

It's a strange twist on mother daughter relationship to find value in knowing your mother didn't really want children. odd. If I felt that way which I don't I can't imagine sharing it with my kids.

It must be the Friday afternoon effect but i just dont get this article. How does having a tantrum over chocolates relate to murdering your classmates??? and why does your child having a tantrum in Tesco and embarrassing you mean that you ahte them nd regret ever having them. All very odd 'actually'

Gwenick · 18/02/2005 15:12

my mum told me I was an accident, but she always showed me so much love it didn't matter (and still doesn't) bit of a family joke now (cousin fell pg accidently while on the pill, my 2nd was a happy accident, also on the pill and of course I was a happy accident with a coil fitted)

The only way it affected me is that I'll never have the coil fitted as contraception - she never did find the one she had fitted 6 weeks before she concieved me!!!

Caligula · 18/02/2005 15:13

My friend's mum always used to say to her dad when they were having an argument "you should treat her with respect, she's the only one who was planned!"

Twiglett · 18/02/2005 15:15

My mum used to tell me 'we planned another baby, we just didn't plan you'

Gwenick · 18/02/2005 15:16

I'll always be able to tell my gorgeous DS2 - you weren't planned for another 2yrs

I don't like the Guardian

and Lionel isn't on my wavelength either.

ScummyMummy · 19/02/2005 23:58

I love the Guardian
but am less keen on Lionel.
Tho I do feel soryy for her being as she's a woman called Lionel an all.

ghosty · 20/02/2005 00:05

She can't be AA .... she didn't write 'Self actualize' ... not even once ... I looked and looked and looked ....

Beatie · 23/02/2005 15:03
