If you can empathise with a 3-month old baby and her mother left without formula milk from 7pm to 1pm the next day, please have a look at this story and act on it:

It's a shocking story, but can you be more specific about what we should do to act on it? Thanks.

elkiedee · 01/08/2008 10:16

I thought I'd bump this one so others see it

aliblenk · 01/08/2008 12:09

Thanks Elkiedee. I posted a link in my first message, so you can read the story. At the end are my contact details, so you can send a message to me to pass on. Alternatively, you can contact your MP. See Morgan's post in the Breast and Bottle feeding thread which starts Complain to your MP.

Have you thought about setting up a Facebook group on this?

mamadiva · 01/08/2008 13:50

This is the second one abut Yarlswood that I've read. This polace needs to be shut down!

edam · 01/08/2008 18:52

Did you have another thread on this? Think I posted somewhere that I've contacted my MP...

Agree, the place needs to be shut down. Or, at the very least, mothers and children should not be sent there.

theSuburbanDryad · 01/08/2008 18:58

Yarls Wood is beyond a disgrace! As most of you know I've been campaigning with Nursing Matters since the case of Janipher Maseko.

Hope you get the support you need on here Alison.

wannaBe · 01/08/2008 19:01

if this is true why is there no mention of it in the media?

theSuburbanDryad · 01/08/2008 19:04

There never is, wannaBe. I wish that I could say this was an isolated incident.

edam · 01/08/2008 22:29

Boysboysboys · 02/08/2008 21:02

Jesus, we have gone back 100 years, locking children up with their parents. It makes me so ashamed to be British.

ruty · 03/08/2008 16:15

oh god how frightening for the mother and how awful for the poor baby. A terrible abuse of basic human rights.

Pannacotta · 03/08/2008 16:40

This is awful, find it hard to understand how this can be allowed to happen.
SDryad how are you getting on with your campaigning?

theSuburbanDryad · 03/08/2008 16:43

It's difficult - I can't talk about a lot of it!!

Please, write to your MP - it's about all we can do at the moment.

Those of you who wanted proof - here are the notes from Yarl's Wood. Here's Morgan's blog on it.

theSuburbanDryad · 21/08/2008 18:21

bump

JKGrowling · 21/08/2008 18:28

oh dear god, i had no idea about any of this.
no idea at all.
this needs to be highlighted in the media.
what can we do?

theSuburbanDryad · 21/08/2008 18:30

Write to your MP, make a fuss. Let them know that you - as a constituent - are not happy, and this needs to be raised as an issue in the House of Commons.

Morgan's blog has a link on it where you can find your local MP's email address.

edam · 21/08/2008 18:36

I've written to my MP who is jolly good about raising matters on behalf of constituents. Hoping I hear back soon (although it's the recess now, obviously).
