Women becoming bishops. Can someone explain to me what the problem is...

I understand the objection to women priests (apostolic succession and all that). But why are the people who accepted women becoming priests, objecting to them becoming bishops? Is there anyone who can explain the argument?

Well I suspect that it's really about male priests not wanting to take orders from female bishops. It was ok when 'those women' had their own little churches tucked away somewhere.

I could be wrong, but if it's ok to disobey god and have female priests I can't see how a bishop is worse.

From a parishonrs position, if you are uncomfortable with a women priest at your church, you can go to a nearby church with a male priest, but if your diocese has a woman bishop, its impractical to worship in a different diocese.

Every time this story is on the news I have to double-check what century this is. I mean, for crying out loud.

It's lunacy, isn't it?

Minum, surely the opposite applies as well though WRT to going to someone of a different gender?
