he is a complete loon.

cocolepew · 07/07/2008 15:48

Not only him, but their Mum too.

shinyshoes · 07/07/2008 15:50

How very strange . Is it to get a better life for their children perhaps,? was money involved?

Twiglett · 07/07/2008 15:51

there's something odd about that story .. not least the fact that it's in the DM .. both parents would have had to rescind their legal rights for this to happen

ScoobyDoo · 07/07/2008 15:51

Utterly bizzare...

Is the Karron person their mum or step-mum?

mum2oandh · 07/07/2008 16:22
Shock
Mikafan · 07/07/2008 16:28

I think Karron is the mum and the way she was talking about it she thinks its only a temporary measure so they can get a good education over there. Its weird because she always seemed so normal and down to earth so surprised she's sanctioned it. You'd think the boys would have something to say about it too being sent off to live with a stranger - weird or what!

Did your dh find somewhere to go for 4th July Cod?

lulumama · 07/07/2008 16:32

sounds like they have both given the boys up. not just him

how utterly, utterly bizarre

charliecat · 07/07/2008 16:33

Hmm , just read this at my mums house. One of sons commented saying back at home we would be hanging out with the wrong people spending too much time doing the wrong things.
They have said its to get educated and a trade then return home.
The boys must be happy enough with the arrangement.

fiodyl · 07/07/2008 16:33

yes they are, I used to go to school in the same road as their house.

Think its being turned into flats now.

Can you actually adopt an 18 year old?

DeeRiguer · 07/07/2008 16:33

read the article, karon is the step mum, birth mum to the younger children
uber odd, and sad story & actions if true i agree

fiodyl · 07/07/2008 16:34

So what has happened to the other 2 kids?

Maybe it is simply a legal procedure whereby they have to be adopted by a US citizen to be allowed to stay in the country. I doesn't sound like they've been 'given up' as such.

Presumably when the youngest boy has finished his education he will be 18 and can come and go as he pleases anyway.

nooka · 07/07/2008 16:41

According to newspaper reports? I would wonder at the verasity of this. I'm amazed at what some of the US magazines report here. In the UK I am sure they would be sued. It's sad that this family has failed. I remember watching the Louis Thereux programme on Chris Eubank. He was obviously such a damaged person, but his wife and children seemed very sensible and nice.

wheresthehamster · 07/07/2008 16:45

I read it as there was only one mum - Karron. She divorced him after 16 years of marriage a couple of years ago it said.

It's really sad. When they were on that series showing them at home it almost humanised him. And she was great.
