oh my god - just tuning into TV5 to get this live. It's testing my rusty french but that is great news.

Spidermama · 02/07/2008 22:36

OMG that poor woman. I'd forgotton all about her. I'm very surprised she's still alive.

Yurtgirl · 02/07/2008 22:42

Oh wow - I have been following the antics of Farc in the news during the last year. THis is truly fantastic news

People were very worried a month ago because it was rumoured she was very very ill - maybe that is what prompted her release

off to find a link now!

Does say she is quite unwell. Hope beyond hope she can recover enough to be with her children again.
Colombian govt bugging up their heroism
the family begged them not to try and hunt for her certainly initially anyway as they said she'd certainly be killed in the process.
I wonder if clara rojos is still alive? She was ingrid betancourts assistant taken at same time.

just re read some articles... No idea whether clara rojas was released too, she had a son fathered by a farc commander... Hope beyond hope she and the boy emmanuel are safe too.
Christ what a ravaged country it is...

I think there was an article in Grazia The Gurdian about her - doesn't she have children? I think her sister was campaigning. Wow, that's great news - do you think this is the beginning of the end for Farc?

Piffle - Clara Rojas was released a few months ago. Her son had been secretly released into foster care when he was a baby due to ill health. They have been re united.

Such good news. I read the article in Grazia (non-ashamed emoticon!) and remembered it when Clara Rojas was freed.

Seemed to be an 'easy' capture in the end.

Anyone else read it and think - def a movie in the making - Angelina Jolie as lead?

amidaiwish · 03/07/2008 08:16

wonderful news to get up to.
turned on GMTV and was a bit that rats in oxford was the main news story! they did actually mention it though, 3rd in line!

so pleased she is free, plus the other hostages. i read all about it in Grazia too. I heart Grazia!

Piffle · 03/07/2008 08:36

saw the footage and she looks pale drawn thin but still has the passion in her eyes.
Seems like it was a very clever intelligence infiltration and rescue. So all credit the the cops after all.
cannot wait to hear what she does next, this is a driven woman.
Just really chuffed that she is alive and for her kids and family, wow
