And people think we're strong on 'hurty words' in the UK ?

The 'religion of peace' doesn't mess about. Expect others to tolerate them, but completely intollerant themselves of anyone else.

I’m sure the Green Party will intervene with their strictly anti-death-penalty beliefs- oh; wait.

Do Saudi Arabia have a green party?

No but Israel doesn’t either and they’re happy to meddle there.

Im surprised they had any sway there, but if they did why not try in SA? Good idea.

Insult the prophet and receive a death sentence. Not very tolerant at all.

People who are in Muslim countries beware of what you say about Muhammad, otherwise this could happen to them.

Whereas some religions can be criticised or negative comments not treated so severely.

Reminds me of the magazine in Paris that caricatured Mohammad and then had a terrorist attack against them. Scary

SA runs on migrant labour, people who go there because it is a way out of desperate poverty in their home country. No rights, passport often held , etc. Just recently a Bangladeshi couple were executed. Reportedly for a kiss on the forehead, and their families and gvt not told until after the executions.

The other crucial migrant labour is expat expertise from wealthy countries. People who do have a choice, just want more money, pay their mortgage off more quickly while living the life of Riley, often supported by the other poor migrants as domestic staff.

Look at who aids and abets these dreadful regimes.

Very little commentary on this though. Some things appear to be deemed ok going by lack of interest. Other things a bit more trendy to get upset about

Octavia64 · 03/11/2026 10:22

That was extremely unwise.

Saudi Arabia does not have free speech or anything approximating to it.

I feel very sorry for him.

People think we’re strong on “hurty words” in the uk. They’re wrong.

no more so than the us- quick google shows they have also imprisoned people for Facebook posts.

there have been a couple of threads about living in the ME recently. Supporters generally are of the opinion that you follow the rules and the lifestyle is worth it.

Markus Farkana was another one. Many, many posters here thought he should have known the rules and the consequences of breaking them, so he couldn’t complain about the harsh punishment. Poor lad.

is it the religion or is it politics and culture?
