Horrific racially motivated rape of Sikh woman in her home

There are several things that make this particularly horrific:
The attacker (not known to the woman) attacked her in her own home.
The racial motivation (and the utter ignorance - he didn’t even know what religion she was)

This wasn’t opportunistic - it was deliberate, targeted.

Glad he was given a life sentence - no doubt there will be critics who will cite other rapists given lighter sentences but an attacker who is so determined that he is willing to break into a strangers home has no place in society.
I honestly hope he doesn’t make it out of prison alive.

I don't think that's there's anyone who could believe that it was moral in any shape or form.

Although.. the human race never ceases to disappoint.

There was an attack in September - in a street, two men, again racially motivated.
The racism adds another layer onto what is already a vile crime.

And the news board doesn’t get much traffic anyway so you’re jumping to conclusions a bit there.

I’m glad he at least got some sort of a sentence. Life, with a minimum of 13 and a half years. I really hope he has to serve his time, so he is kept off the streets.

So many sex offenders and rapists are just getting a little slap on the wrists, or getting away with it without custodial sentences.

He obviously targeted her on the bus and followed her home. He broke in to viciously attack her, and was shouting hate at her all the while. So, there was the racist hate on top of the vicious rape. Even the vicious rape by itself should have been enough to get him locked up. I don’t think the rape itself would have been a lesser crime if he had viciously assaulted and raped another woman instead. I think all rapists should be locked away like this, where they can’t destroy women’s lives.

I really think the sentences for rape are generally too low. 13 and a half years should not be the minimum. They never seem to consider protecting women in the sentencing. Glad he was at least prosecuted, found guilty and will be locked away (too many rapes aren't at all), hopefully for the rest of his life and not just 13 and a half years.
